No photos, but these cars with the 300 horse 327 were mighty fast on the street back then. The 65's with the 350 horse motor were even better, although few and far between in our area. It's a shame Chevy didn't go ahead with the 365 horse motor in the 64's. That would have been an awesome package.

My old 65, 283 4 speed black interior with bucket seats. I pulled the motor and put in a 327 and just beat the crap out of it and this car never let me down (breakdown), I still miss this car. I came across it back in the late 80's in some guy's backyard but didn't have the money to buy it back (just bought a house). I'm still looking for it.

Don't know about the records but I ordered one, COPO car, ordered Feb. 1965, delivered in June of 1965.
Purchased thru Kleinfelter Chevrolet , Jonestown , PA. Had it 4 years sold it to a kid, he had it about a month and wrapped it around a tree

So you has a 396/375 factory Z16 with the different trim that you ordered? Is that what you're saying?

I have no doubt that they made any amount of triple black 65s, just not the Z16s....

Yup, wish I still had it .
Don't know what you mean by the different trim ?
Had the black out grill, the silver around the back trunk trim, & SS badging, console, Sun Tack on the column by the factory, M21 trans rev., reverb in the trunk

No see the chrome on the bottom just below the tunk lock, mine had same type pc. around at top and I ordered it with no engine badging.
It came thru with it on anyway and dealer took it off.
I didn't have the bumper guards either.
I found that ordering depended on finding a dealer that would work with you. The car was rejected twice by GM Styling Engineering Dept. due to ( of all things ) they felt the triple black "wasn't a wise style choice".

Did you / he ever run it inthe quarter ? What class, "A" stock ?
    What did it do ?
There was a guy a town over that had a factory stock, Chevelle SS, 1965, 327, 350 HP , ran A stock, that really hauled ass, used to eat the street 396's , 409's , hemi's, dam thing was fast.

GM never put a Sun tachometer on the column in a Chevelle from the factory. I can guarantee you that.

You would lose that bet, they certainly did.
I didn't want to lose the clock in the dash and ordered the tack on the colume. I was there when the car was off loaded from the trailer & yes it was on. Also had the real wood steering wheel, same as the Vett . On COPO cars you could order what you wanted. Took a long time to get them but you get anything.

The bottom car is a sedan with the post removed. Check the rear window.
