There will be bands playing all weekend!
Despite what the Hipsters say,... Rock-a-Billy is NOT dead!

Reno Rockabilly Riot at the Grand Sierra Resort Hotel and Casino in Reno Nevada
    May 13 – 15, 2011.

This is not your typical car show!

There will be a hot rodz n' lead sleds car show (with people's choice voting), tattoo artists and contests, a "Chop-Off" by the Millers Chop Shop, pinstripers, vendors, clothiers, pin up girl contests, a car corral (to buy your next car project), burn-out contests, drag races, loud pipes contests, great food, fastest mechanics in the west… Plus "The Best in the West" burlesque show featuring: HellzaPoppin Sideshow Review.

A-bomb Entertainment is founded on the principle that a weekend of festivals and fun can be affordable for the whole family. Day passes start at just $10, and children 13 or under are free! Plus, the first 100 kids through the gates on Saturday, accompanied by their parents of course, will receive a FREE die cast car, compliments of Flashback Collectibles!

In addition, A-Bomb Entertainment will also be donating money from this year's show to the SPCA, as well as the Ranger Joe Mobility Foundation, a charity focused on providing wheel chairs for disabled children.

The Grand Sierra Resort was chosen by A-Bomb Entertainment to host the Reno Rockabilly Riot because its Reno's premier hotel destination offering amenities unseen at any other hotel in Northern Nevada! Visitors will enjoy the Go-Kart tracks, Ultimate Rush Thrill Rides, Mini Golf, Aqua-Range, or perhaps the Bunker offering full swing indoor golf. The arcade features the latest in video games as well as a laser tag arena that everyone can enjoy. And if that doesn't excite you, perhaps you'll enjoy the 50 lane bowling alley, movie theater, or top notch gaming, and gourmet restaurants

But those young guys in their getups and greased back hair give us old farts a good laugh and make the day go a lot a lot better.

Not near as funny or pathetic as a 50 year old white guy with his cap on backwards, a hoodie and his oversized jeans waistband hanging below his but cheeks though. I'd rather see the rockasilly guys any day.

I suppose everyone should be able to spend their weekends the way they want, even if it is clinging on to an exhausted fad. But, it has no place in the discussion of traditional hot rods. I'd like to see a thread started about those two nice Vickys.

One small part of the show, and you guys gotta' cling to it.
Can't you look at the big picture?
This is not your typical car show. There will be live bands all weekend including Surf, and Outlaw Country bands, hundreds of traditional rods, vendors, clothing, a rod swap meet, Burn out contests, 100 foot drag races, Loud Pipe contests, great food, Dine N Dash contests, Fastest mechanics in the West contest, tire changing contests, Dance contests, "The Best in the West" burlesque show, on-site car top chop, and much, much more...

And despite what the Hipsters say,... Rock-a-Billy is NOT dead!

The name of the show was an unfortunate choice.

There is a Lotta' narrow minded, self-righteous people in this world.
We live in America, it is your choice not to attend this event.
I am going, and plan on having a great time.

Really looking forward to this show. I'm putting the '51 in the 100ft.drags, the burn out contest, and the loud pipes competition! And the Pyronauts are one of my Favorite SURF bands be right up at the front of the stage for them!

hmmm, I would be more inclined to go becasue of the name. Better than "middle aged guy with mullet and power tour 2001 t-shirt riot" just my personal opinion. Too bad its not closer.

Just found out Millers Chop Shop is going to be chopping an "A' Tudor at the show,
4" in the front and 2" in the back. Should be cool seeing this done on-site.

Okay, this whole talk about Rockabilly is stupid,... other threads that touched on this subject have been closed. Too much drama. I have stated that I thought the name chosen for this, (what looks to be a very cool first time show in NorNev) was unfortunate. Maybe the promoters will be reading this discussion and (hopefully) re-name this event for next years show. For myself, I am going to go and have a great time.
