    Thanks for the info

The Chinese are getting into the aircraft business so it will not be long before Boeing and Airbus has competition. We need to train them first (I think its called global economy..) so they will buy Boeing aircraft and US manufactured jet engines.. but they will take what we show them how to produce, reverse engineer it and then lower the price so others can not compete....... 10 yrs max...

  4. Special interests are not allowed a voice in China, so production and growth are very easy and cheap. Shanghai is a great example. Need a freeway? OK we'll just move these 20,000 people, and up pops a freeway. More runways needed? No big deal. Chop down the trees, who cares what kind of butterfly grows there, and plop down some tar.

This is not a rant, just stating facts. It will be very hard for a country like the US (which has to answer to many special interests to get anything done) to compete with a country like China. Politically, they claim communism and use that to create very quick and cheap economic growth.

But with time China will have to deal with the same special interests the US does. Production costs will go up.

So who's gonna be the first to try those wheels at 120mph??

and I'm tired of standing in it. So are you going to step up and make them? Otherwise. Still very serious, although the laughing will become uncontrollable.

Ok, am I lame? I looked at like 35 pages of ebay wheels and tires and never saw these. And rimspecialist only seems to have tires for sale right now.

you have to download the chinese text charater set for your computer to search for the chinese spelling of halibrand on ebay.

    just kiddin!

search for halibrand, show only completed items, and you'll see a bunch of em, so you can hook up with the seller.

The "Halibrand" wheels that are currently on the market are made in China. I talked with the folks at the "Halibrand" booth at the SEMA show and they confirmed this. My guess is the Chinese manufacturer either decided to sell some of these on the side or the deal with the "Halibrand" company came apart and the manufacturer is selling them on its own. As far as anything currently being sold under they "Halibrand" name, they might as well call it brand X or dog poop or whatever.

Not anymore!!! Thanks man. Now I'm going to have to get my neighbor to help me mount them. :)

and Ray? that is some funny shit...

  15. You are fast!

I hit the buy-it now button and as I was entering my bolt pattern and width you swiped 'em up!!!!

Oh well....I'll drive down there and pick up a set and save myself $50.00. I'm putting a set on my '89 Chevy PU

I am curious on why you don't like the Salt flats though? I was thinking of a set for my '66 GTO.

You can call me fast, hate it when my wife does that though.

Decided the '55 is going to be copper & cream twotone, that grey on the salt's just isn't going to work. Maybe should have gotten the polished. And I say go for it on the 'GTO. Funny that. A friend is going to buy this setup off me for his '64 GTO. We bolted them on when I decided to get rid of these and with his silver paint they look wicked.

  17. No where does this guy sell these as being HALIBRANDS!!!!!!!!! He even says so in his copy. He does say they are Halibrand looking copies. These wheels are closer to an ET Feuler and a Five window.

As for littledickLejeurne, he IS BACK SELLING UNDER HIS HALIBRAND name on Ebay. Those wheels are indeed Chinese also. But, they are using the old Halibrand patterns, they are not the same wheel that rimspecialist and others are selling.

We are talking about two separate things here...................

  18. The Halibrands being sold now look to be just like the Halibrands sold 4 years ago. I have a pal who just bought a set of 15x6 and 15x10 Sprints and they are excellent. I haven't measured every nook and cranny but they look like the originals I have. I didn't see anything that indicated they were cast offshore.

They are not the wheels being talked about on this thread. I also have some of the wheels being discussed on this thread, and although they are nice wheels, they are nowhere near to being Halibrand copies. I would call them Halibrand "like" wheels, same as the original ET-III's are "like" Halibrands and Cruzer wheels are "like" Halibrands.

Just remember you get what ya pay for buy buying stuff that is made over seas. China when it comes to metal works and pouring the blocks to cut the wheels mix the metal with other crap. They may be Cheap but remember they are CHEAP. Buy American. Just my opinion.

Let me know when they start popping out 15x4 0r 15x5 small window or spindle-mount Halibrands.

Speaking of that, isn't there someone re-popping the skinny small window front runners? Seems like I saw them on ebay a while back, but haven't seen any lately.

The one's on this Willys are what I'm talking about:

    Ok then... do me a favor;

Would you please compile a list of HAMB friendly aluminum wheels that ARE 100% made in the US?

    Please? It won't take long!

Wheel Vintiques is selling the skinny small-windows.

Cruzers are ugly regardless of where they're made, but that's just my opinion.

Time for a wake-up call fellas....

When I worked for M/T Industries back in '68 they were regularly importing thousands of wheels (and lug nuts) from Japan (and they weren't the only ones, by any means). This sort of thing has been going on in the hot rod industry for decades. Sure, it's China now - but the deal is the same. Tons of "traditional" rodders are running around with import wheels (and other parts) on their rides without realizing it.

Plain and simple. Everyone selling a manufactured product digs cheap labor costs. Always have, always will.

BTW - The comments about Chinese stuff being decent or better quality are correct. The main reason they made so much junk in the past wasn't just because they didn't have the brains or ability to do it right - it was because that's the level of quality the American businesses wanted from them.

I sent photo's, measurements, AutoCad dwgs. to the owner of Team III Wheels. He is/was going to repop the Kidney Bean style spindle mounts for later Ford spindles, which would help reduce the f'ng complications of mounting the Anglia style. But I've been gone so much haven't been in touch. Curious now, I'll check it out.

I dig the ET III Fuelie's enough (more than the Hali's) I own a pair for a future project when time permits. Don't much care for his 10 spokes, though I'm sure they look positive on a funny car style setup or match racer. The Radir 12 spoke spindle mounts dust those in my opinion.

With all that said I'm not dropping the dimes for 2000.00 worth of wheels on this wagon that'll be driven the piss out of. The 400.00 will roll just fine.
