Started work on my dad's Model A.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hotroddub, May 9, 2011.

  1. I just though I would post some pics of my dads car. Its a 29 coupe, thats been cut. We found a real 32 Ford frame, 37 tube axle ( with juice brakes) and truck banjo. The motor is a merc 255 and 3 speed out of a 1953 Merc. Heres some pics....Thanks.

That is a horrible combination of parts. It'll never work. I'll send a trailer over right away to pick them up and save you the long hours of horrible toil you have ahead of you. Please attach a chain to the Merc to make loading easier.

Cool man. Is it going back to being a coupe, or will it be a roadster?

  10. Take it off my hands right now, please. haha

It's going to be a roadster, we tried to find some roof pieces but didn't find anything close. I think it looks cool without the windsheild, but I'm sure he's going to put on a set of roadster post.

It is almost impossible to make a roadster out of a coupe without being able to tell. Best part about that is, coupsters are cool too. Especially with that lineup of parts. Keep posting progress pics.

  14. I'm going to try and get some motor mounts built when I get home from school. I'm glad we found the 32 frame, now we won't have any trouble running a fan.

  15. Looks good! looks like its in about the same shape my 29's in! haha.

What are your intentions for the interior?

    Good luck with the project.

  16. As far as interior, its going to be pretty simple. The plan right now is a stock style seat, 46 Ford dash, wood floor and a 1952 Merc steering wheel. Just enought to drive it, and finish it later on.

  17. Ok, its been forever since I updated this. We have had alot of flooding so I havent had a chance to do much. I started on the motor mounts this evening. They aren't too fancy but they should work alright. I still have to finish it, but you can get the idea.

  18. Good job Wyatt. Keep on Trucking

  19. Very cool. But, it looks like you might need to peench the frame a little.

  20. Thats next on the list. I took the crossmember out so I could set the motor and trans in. when I knocked out that last rivet, it spread out a bit.. I didn't cut the original crossmember to fit the overdrive, but I have an idea for a new one. It may not work, but its worth a try. haha

Also ive been moving the body around, so its just laying on the frame. I keep pushing the motor into the firewall when i'm working, so it moves around a lot. :D

My camera died, I will try and get more pics soon. Started on the trans crossmember...

  24. I'm about 50% done with the cross member. I still need to build some support legs that tie into the rails. Sorry about the picture quality, they are phone pictures. The good camera broke, haha.I did get it all welded up though. [IMG]
