Should be a vortec style intake. The intake manifold bolts will be verticle rather than at an angle like the older style heads and intakes. They make 4bbl intakes that work well for that application. Check out summit for intakes, should specify "vortec" in the description. Other than that there are no other issues. Remember that the vortec heads are good for torque and low range, not really meant for revving so purchase a good dual plane intake and keep the cfm around 650 on the carb and you should be good. J
No. Just change the intake to one for 4 bbl carb that fits your late model-style ('86 and newer) heads....and also, swap the distributor for an earlier, *non-computer-controlled* one. Mart3406 ===========
Lots of times you can find a perfect intake off of a V8 boat motor - typically Mercruiser. Otherwise, I know many who take a regular 350 manifold and wallow out the center bolt holes so the bolts can be inserted vertically along with using a washer. It works, but may not be the most beautiful.
Lets see if we can narrow it down: You have a 1998 Vortec 350 (8 manifold bolts) and you... 1. want to convert it to carb and run it in another vehicle- You need: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-2116/ http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BBC-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories 2. You want to change the EFI in your truck (trucks were only ones equipped with 350 vortec heads) to carb. - you need the above parts plus a electronic fuel pump for carbed vehicles
Have we forgotten anything guys? fuel pump intake fpr distributor carb...of course air filter I think we're missing something.
Got it, what I was thinking about anyway. Some decent valve covers with a hole for a push in style breather. Go with some like these and if you decide to upgrade to roller rockers down the road and you won't have interference issues like the factory junk. http://www.cgmmotorsports.com/sbcchevytallcenterboltpolishedvalvecovervortec.aspx
