I stumbled upon this 34 chevy 3 window.
My first thought when i saw was Nope! not messing with that. As i walking away something was not letting me leave without it.
Dont know why but I couldnt leave with out taking it.
Havent decided what to do with it yet.

oh yea no doors or trunk lid came with it.
Any one tackled something like this before?

Looks like a 33 Chev cowl by the looks of the hood shelf/ shelve, whatever you call it.

I am starting with about the same. Mines a 36 Ford 3 window. Should be here in a couple of days.

  8. Check out Tex Smith's How to Build a Chevy Street Rod. in there, David McNurlen, Arlington Texas describes how he put a nice '34 Chevy coupe together from three piles like you have. I've sat in the car and it is a hotrod in the truest sense. Finding the doors and other pieces will be tough, but if the price is right and you've got the time, they can be nice street rods. Good luck....

  9. That's what my truck looked like when I brought it home. It doesn't look much better now, but it's all together and goes down the road pretty good.

I think you guys are right. Here is a 35

  16. the '33 3w coupes came in two "sizes". mercury series [like mine] and a master series. mercury series about 1.5 inches smaller in every direction. post the width of your windshield, dash, door length, rumble/ trunk opening and i'll compare. it will make it easier to find parts if you know grill and hoods are different.

I believe everyone is right it's probably a 33 chevy, but it might be a 33 chevy mercury model. Nice save I started with a 28 chevy sedan in about that condition.

    Thanks for everyones input.
I'm gonna take everyones word and say it's a 33.

  21. I shipped mine over from Oregon in a POD. It was all disassembled with no chassis but I looked at it as a big puzzle. I found a 33 master sedan chassis locally and started from there. You can do it if you have the time and the patience.

just need to figure out if its a mercury series or a master series....

Do you want to sell the body if you dont build it id be keen ,thanks Ben

  24. My old 33 master. Keep in mind the earl;y 30s GM cars had a body made of a wood structure with the sheetmetal nailed to it! If you're serious about keeping and building this car, you'll either need to put new wood in it or replace it all with steel tubing. Either way is a big job. Most guys buy a tubing bender and a mig welder...buy square or round tubing and go to work..it can be done as evidenced by all the early 30s GM cars still on the street.

Not a 34/5 cowl. 34s had rectangular cowl vents that opened to the rear, 35s had peaked cowl vents that opened to the front.
Here's my 35 Standard cowl for comparison. A friends 35 Master cowl is similar, your cowl appears narrower so it could be a 33?

This coupe used to set out in a field just off of Davis Bend road in Alvin didn't it? I wonder what happened to it?

  28. It would have came home with me too!

Not just cuz I have a 33 ford 3 window and like being an asshole, but I will if need be....I say it's a waste of time. Like rocky said all you have is a skin with no inner structure so if you make the outside look good making the doors etc work is a whole other problem.

I have a friend that has a 34 5 window and it is a sweet 10 footer but the doors are such a pain to make work he has sidelined thee project(you need to be able to open and close the doors),

Good luck but I still think you'd be better of to sell the stuff to someone who needs parts to finish a more complete car.

Could be, I bought it from a guy in Alvin but it was next to his shop. He pulled it from an old chicken coupe in Danbury where it had been for many years.
