Moe, how did you get the swirly effect in the sky? A little explanation on the lighting for the headlights/taillights/interiors too please if you would. Cool shots, just curious if you shoot them with these effects or if you add them afterward with photoshop or something similar.

I really like the one of the old dodge with one headlight lit. Kind of a spooky relative of Christine vibe going on.

Looks like a time exposure to me. A farily long time. Or? Gary

Those shots are a series of night time pics from a Talented photographer by the name of David Evans. The setting was the Pearsonville junkyard at night.

Time exposures at night will tend to show the stars as streaks, short exposure times of 10 of 15 minutes show short star trails and the longer you leave the shutter open, the longer the star trails will be.

The photographer (David) used several tricks to enrich-en the picture. On a 10 or 15+ minute exposure the photographer will use a variety of colored gels over a camera flash to flash color onto certain parts of a photo. A simple flashlight can also be used to make a headlight look like it is on. On the longer exposures, the camera man can walk right thru the shot to flash the interior of a car or to flash one side or the other with different color gels held in front of a portable camera flash.
The exposure time is so long that he will not appear in the picture other than sometimes you may see the slightest hint of someone moving thru the shot. The longer that the shutter is left open, the harder it is for the camera to detect the photographer walking thru the shot as he illuminates his subjects.

In the photo below, David lite up or flashed his subject several times with various filters. It looks like he even walked into the background to illuminate the adjacent car's interior. Judging by the length of the star trails, the exposure would seem to be about 10 or 15 minutes.

In this shot, it appears he used a blue gel to flash the front of the Lincoln and then illuminated each of the headlights. Again, the star trails indicate a ~10 or 15 minute exposure.

High end cameras like the top end digital Nikons and Canons are pretty versatile and many effects and color shifts can be added on the fly or as a person reviews the shots. I would also imagine that David is a genius with Photoshop as well and many shots will be tweaked on the computer. For the most part, the night shots in the junkyard appear to have very little photoshop tweaking as the colors and tone appear natural other than the tint caused by the gels/flash.

Yes and the truck happened to be pointing in almost a north/south direction so in the background we can see that the North Star (Polaris) stands perfectly still while we on earth pivot on our axis.

The star trails look to be about 10 or 15 degrees (of arc) which would put this time exposure at or around ~45 minutes long

Another pic with quite a few gel flashes and headlight illuminations... David would have had to walk right in between these 2 cars to flash the interior 'blue' (barely visible on the far right side of the car/interior/picture)

    and yet another..
