My 39' Ford with a small block and Turbo 350 started whinning (Like a Gear Driven cam) last week. It sounds like the Transmission. When it's in Neutral or Park there is no Whine, but it whines in gear...moving or not. Other than that it runs and shifts (Churps) good. The Trans is clean and full. I'm thinking it's the front pump or the "GER" 2400-2800 Stall converter. The trans has 15,000 non-abused miles over the last 20 years (More than I can say for myself).

front pump, oil level, front pump could have loose bolts(old crooked tranny shops would back one or two off during a service and few months later ,tranny makes noise they say needs rebuild. then brake clean case in car, retighten bolts big profit)
