At what point is this necesary?

    Is the frame notched?

How much travel do you have in the rear?

BTW. This has got to be the sexiest shoebox I've ever seen.

Just keeps getting cooler .... Your last pic really highlights the way the trim and tail light spar work together, to make the rear quarter longer and give an almost Deco sensation of speed while sitting still . Stellar !

Touching story. I like what ya done with that. I am going to chop my Vicky too. I have been flip floppin' about using the existing wrap around rear window and another rear window. That '50 rear window looks pretty good in there. I also like that rather than lengthening the roof at the side windows, you used the rear of the roof to make up the gap. That is the other thing I expect to do is not lengthen the roof through the side windows. I think that makes the roof look too flat. You made nice contours and a good transition from the belt line to the roof. Excellent work. I hope to see your Vicky at some local shows so I can eye ball it closer.

Amazing car everything is spot on, and the 53 teeth seem to fit in and fill up the grille opening alot better than the 54.

Did you think about electric quarter windows rather than slide in windows? I'm thinking that would have worked pretty well.

No electric...I am trying to keep the car low tech as much as I can.

I gotta say that every time I revisit this link I notice and learn more about your great work. So far you have answered almost every question I had about chopping my Vicky. The quarter windows, the wind wings, the rake of the roof. They are all questions I had floating in my head. Thanks for clearing that stuff up for me. Keep'em comming boss. You are truely a master.

Do you have any in-process shots of the A posts? Did you pie cut the upper and lower radii? If so, did you remove the dash to do the lower ones? That's the kind of stuff I'd like to see some detail of.

    Thanks,
    Michael

Sun visors in a Custom? Seems to me the view is restricted a bit because of the bracket. In researching the mid fifties Custom photos (thanks Rikster) it seems most had them? I would like to put them in but I would have to modify the bracket. Photos would be cool.

You may have already seen these on Rikster's site. Do these help out at all?

Can't believe I missed this till now, but just went thru the whole thing! Wonderful story of how you came to own the car, and the work you're doing is top notch. The best part is how stunning your design is; that top is perfect from every angle, not a hump or bump anywhere to interrupt the flow. Just perfection... after 60 years the definitive hardtop shoebox custom is being built now!
