Always thought these were a good candidate for removing the vent windows. Makes em look a lot more like a coupe. By moving the spear back, and lowering the rear bumper, it gives it a slight tail dragger look. All inexpensive mods.

What version of Photoshop (or other program) should I get? I would like to do some paint swapping, grill work, and wheel changes. I don't want to bug people everytime I want to change the hue slightly. Actually I could let my wife play around with color changes -she loves that stuff.

    Thanks...

    hey photochoppers.
could some do a quick color change on my Cad?
my car is the Cad on the left with the black roof.
I'd like to see it in the putty color on the right but please keep the black roof.

    THANK YOU MUCH!!

dont really need photoshop. the two main free alternative image editing programs are GIMP and my preference PAINT.NET

http://paint.net/ I find this has a nicer interface, go through the forum to get cool addons.

http://www.gimp.org/screenshots/ Aint used gimp in years, may be better now, advantages of this are that a lot of places duplicate photoshop brushes for gimp.

I suggest u try em both & find your own preference.

Am I the only one using LView Pro?
Many many moons ago it was a great $29 substitute for a $700 photoshop.
I have used it for years, which is both good and bad since I have not learned other programs. Any comments?

LView is a little out of date from what I understand, but it doesn't matter, if it works for you than that's good.

There was once a project called Gimpshop which was meant to be gimp but with the photoshop interface. But aparently it was really buggy.

A new thing is browser image editors. but ive found they crash often so best not to do anything heavy with them.

I bought a wacom intuos tablet recently, and I abslutely hate it. Its like being 5 years old again, I have no hand eye co-ordination.

  10. Looking for a little help with my truck. I would like to see what the rear fenders would look like if they have the same style opening as the front. Also I am open to any color suggestions. Sorry the bed side isn't straight!

You didn't say anything about sectioning! Dropped it a little Shaved the door handles and fuel filler. Went with a nice early ford style blue.

I use Gimp at work for basic picture editing; and I just tried to change the color of my Impala without much luck. Would someone mind making this car green with cream in the stripe?

  17. If you're trying to do a color change using the Hue and Saturation adjustmennts, I think the problem you're running into is due to the fact that the car is white. Very dark or very light colors don't respond well to Hue and Saturation adjustments because they contain little or no real color information for the software to work with.

On the other hand if you were starting out with say a medium blue car, then the software can say "take all the blue pixels in this picture and change them to red" or green or purple or whatever. I'm greatly oversimplifying the actual process, but that's just the way I roll.

I just downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS5. Is anyone using this and can I change the color to make it actually look painted instead of the dull spray paint color?
If so what tutorial would be good for doing this as well as say adding hubcaps or changing wheels?

    Thanks

Sounds like I need to get this thing rollin', and find a dark background to snap a few pics. Thanks for the explanation.

The technique to colour changing is simple.
    add a new layer
paint over the car in a solid colour
    alter the transparency slightly.
    for added realism
desaturate the car body so the colours dont interfere
    add nother new layer
paint white highlights to match the contours of the car body
then set layer blending mode to soft light.
    Then gaussian blue it.
thats all there is to it.

for wheelchanging I posted a big red link few pages back. tutorials there.

I like the drop, what is that about two inches? Ok, anyone want to 'shoot' on a different color? Give me some ideas!

    Thanks in advance,

Yeah, about two or three on the front, nothing at the back, it's just the angle of the car coming down that gives it that look...

I've been goofing with this all morning: couldn't stand the crooked bed, so I fixed that... which led to a drop, which led to some Cadillac wires on medium whites... which led to a very mild section on the cab/fender to bring it more in line with the bed... which of course led to a color, 'cause you can't do custom work without at least shooting some color on it.:D

Oh, and I even managed to do the fender like the original poster asked!:p
