I mentioned in my thread on my 47 Ford that I was paintinga 35 Chevy Master for a buddy... here the shots I promised.
Ok, to try to answer the questions... PasedenaHotrod - - The wood was pretty bad in the doors. Some of the body wood was shot. all the bad stuff has been replaced now. Its come a long ways. My buddy who owns it replaced all the bad wood and got it all stiffened back up. He has spent a LOT of time on that part. Afterwards we both spent a fair bit of time trying to get the doors to line up. But I am kinda anal that way so... But its turning our really nice. Tb33anda3rd- This one is a Master. Its an all steel roof car. I dont know about the sport sedan. I am by no means an expert on these cars. But my friend who owns it probably knows the answer to that question so I will get back to you. I'll keep the pics coming. I have more around somewhere on my laptop, so I will see what I can dig up.
tb33anda3rd, Here is what my friend said...", the two models are a 1935 Standard that has the solid front axle and "square" body, and the 1935 Master with independent front suspension (knee action) and the "rounded" body, as I call it, with the suicide doors. This is the only year and model that Chevy made suicide doors. The Standard and Master bodies were available both in 2 door and 4 door versions." This is all in reference to the sedans of course, excluding all other models...
i had one when i was 16 the guy i bought it from said it was a sport sedan . it was the first year for the turret top on chevrolet. my uncle towed it the 35 miles home for me with his '56 chevy wrecker. wish all three were with me now!
Personally I dont like it with the steel wheels... never have liked that look ever, but thats my opinion. And differences of opinion are what makes the world go around. I have some more shots from this weekend, but i forgot my cable to get them off my phone. I'll try to get them uploaded tomorrow.
Here is a shot from Saturday. The fender and running board are DONE on this side. The rest of the parts are getting close.
Here is my 5W in the same shop a couple of years ago. The guy who owns the 35 Chevy and the shop is on the left.
Ah Rich, Good to hear from you. That looks like it was before i painted the chassis & etc. on yours. Jim musta been still fitting the drivetrain and body at this point.
Well progress on the 35. Everythign is painted except the pass side front fender & the hood. Will post pics after the progress this weekend.
So lots of progress on the 35. All that I have left is to paint the hood, then the owner has wiring and a few other things. But its getting close to being wrapped up
After I posted the pics the owner asked me to hold off on posting them for a while... (he has his reasons) so I had to remove them. sorry about that. It's his car so of course I honored his wishes.
So I started on the LAST panels last night, and got the first layer of materials on the hood. Have a few flaws to work out but it shouldnt take too long to get it done.
