I was out looking for a storage bin for some furniture, and i see this boat, i said to myself damn, this thing is kool as hell, it reminded me of the bat boat. its an old woooden boat that needs a complete restoration, and i may ask the person at the storage place if its for sale, hey maybe i might be restoring a boat....any info would be appriciated...
WHOA!! that thing is cool as hell...where is it?? we gotta check it out tomorrow...too bad the pics are so small.........
here is a site about the switzer craft boats...looks like they are all racing boats.. members.cox.net/jbowman3/switzerhstry.html
That is pretty hot. May be tough working with wood and all but if it is for sale I'd be anxious to see what you do with it. Erin
Cool! Great boat! I just bought a really cool old one last weekend, too. It's a one man fiberglass with tall fins and it's set up for a motor. Got a cool trailer with coil springs with it... all for $50 I'll throw up a pic when I get it home. I like seeing old boats just as much as teardrop campers behind vintage cars. JOE
well my uncle is just finishing up restoring a 40 some foot wood boat, so he could help me out, damn, im getting excited...lol
Check out the galleries at Fiberglassics.com.. especially the 'Boats in the Belfry' gallery... http://www.fiberglassics.com/galleries/bitb/default.htm
Woah, that is cool! Needs a hot and chromed out sbc with big chrome headers out the back, and a metallic paintjob!
My dad bought a cool boat one time it was built in the 50's (homemade job out if surplus army stuff) ,but the reason he bought was because it had a flathead and a set of edmuns aluminum heads and 2x2 intake.
Can you post better pics of that? I'd be real interested in seeing them. My best friend restores wood runabouts and he'll know about them. I'd like to send the pics to him.
I found the Fiberglassics site a few months ago, and I'm hooked. I'd love to find a late 50s finned boat to pull to the lake behind my '54 PU. No luck yet. I'm going to look at one of these today:

WOW, thats kool, now i know what it is and year...i went back today, and i was told it may be for sale, so im waiting on a phone call.
Very kool site, Blake. I've been waiting for a chance to get on an old fiberglass boat. As soon as I get out of my condo and into a house, it's on my list. There's a really kool one sitting in Apache Junction, AZ where my Dad lives just waiting for me to rescue it.
Some '57 Chevy side trim would look tits on that boat, but drilling the trim holes may be problematic for it's purpose
Cool looking boat and may be a rare one. Don't know squat about boats but a quick search on Goggle turned up this SwitzerCraft Shooting Star
that boat is GREAT! i damn near bought a Nailhead powered boat a couple years ago. it was on Ebay and was in Texas. it went for about $1500 which i thought was a killer deal. i had the money too but not the time to drive to Texas . maybe some day. good luck on that boat. keep us posted.
I've been restoring this one, a 1962 Dorsett Catalina. If there's such a thing as a "rat boat" this was it when I got it. Should be ready for the water next year. The good thing is that prices of old 'glassics haven't really taken off yet like they have with cars. I got mine for free just for getting it out of a guy's yard, like you could do with cars 25-30 years ago. Rick 65 LTD 62 Catalina (boat)
