I'm hard pressed to enjoy a channeled vehicle. However, this 40 has all the right shapes for me, including both the grille and the channel.
I always thought that was a cool looking car, but I am a nut over almost any 40, especially channeled.
According to Motor Life & Hop Up Jan '54 owner in '53 was Revelle Harrison, It says he performed the custom work. Not sure if he owned it in '57 when featured in R&C.
The April 1953 article on the car does not list a builder at all. Only name mentioned in the article are Revelle Harrison as the owner and Larry Ackley as the painter. I would be interested in seeing that article of the car being found... the Pro Street part will be hard to watch though!
No one else noticed how much higher the passenger side headlight is than the other side? You can see it in ALL the pics if you go back and look.
That car is kind like the girl at the event in the black dress with the way to big butt and ultra sexy body, you don't want her to be your women but man is she a treat to the eyes. It's ok ~Sololobo~
I think that 40's tail-draggers are so freakin' cool. And this one is a good example. Especially with the skirts, IMO. And yet, 40 Fords are inherently so close to perfection in stock form, (except maybe for stance and wheels), that most times, custom modifications only serve to make them different, but not necessarily better. Sometimes less is more. Here's what I mean. Anyway, as someone else stated, "it's all good".
I always thought that a Custom, was where you take a stock factory model and improve it asthetically....I think in this case, they have taken a design Icon, and spoilt it for the sake of trying to be different...no one will convince me that that is an improvement on the stock Ford product...but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
i love that it is unchopped but super low, especially with the skirts. the grill and front of hood treatment, not so much.
What the heck is so wild about it? The Buick grill is the only major mod. It doesn't look radical compared to all the other customs of the era. In those days it wasn't considered bad ass to drive a custom. Look at the old magazines, these cars weren't all driven by greasy leather jacketed thugs.
That car looks amazing. The '40 makes such a good custom, or a rod, or a gasser. Hell, they even look good stock! Not sure I dig it with the skirts. It seems like lots of kustoms out there have skirts because the builders feel obligated to run them when in reality a lot of kustoms out there look better without them IMO.
