Muscle Machines did a run on die cast cars with white tires. I always knew one day someone with deep enough pockets would do a set. I dig em but I'd hate to have to clean them.

They used to have white tires back in the Model T days, Non-Skids, I think.

    For the record...

As to not lasting, I've seen a grip of solid white forklift tires on forkilifts used inside warehouses. No issues with lasting. They got dirty, sure. But I imagine they were NEVER cleaned since new. I would imagine a weekly treatment of Westley's Bleach White would keep those clean just like it does with regular whitewalls. The tread would clean itself as it is constantly being worn away.

    And also for the record...

I LOVE what you did there. I think if you produced them, you'd make a stack of money.

    ***EDITED TO ADD***

I seem to recall BFG producing colored parts of treads for the tuner market 10 years or so ago...

  11. From that wiki-

Early automobile tires were made entirely of natural white rubber, however, the white rubber did not offer sufficient traction and endurance so carbon black was added to the rubber used for the treads. Using carbon black only in the tread produced tires with inner and outer sidewalls of white rubber. Later, entirely black tires became available, the still extant white sidewalls being covered with a somewhat thin, black colored layer of rubber. Should a black sidewall tire have been severely scuffed against a curb the underlying white rubber would be revealed, it is in a similar manner that raised white letter (RWL) tires are made.

They are fucking cool as hell !

Love 'em. A nice channeled roadster in a goldish orange heavy metalflake, with bone white scallops and bone white tuck interior would do these tires justice. Hell, if I had them I might go so far as to paint my engine block white just to match..... hmmmmmmmm

Definitely will be hard to keep clean. But i'm sure the car they're going on gets pushed in and out of where ever it goes anyway. Nice job. I'm assuming you accomplished this by injecting the white rubber first?

  26. Few things come to mind.....if a black tire creates a white smoky burnout, does a white tire make black smoke?

How the heck to you keep them clean?

  27. wow those tyres would look cool if you swapped the colours around and put the white on the sidewall and the black on the tread:rolleyes:. seriously tho i think they look bad and are only "shock value" "attention getters"

Epic, anyone know anything about this... stuff?

  30. lol, I think it was yokohama that made some tires that had colored ribs so they left different colors on the pavement, so do these leave white skid marks? but wtf is with the blackwall? did they run out of white rubber?
