60 is the best looking cad out there.can i ask why you didn't mount the tank and pump on the kick up?seams like its going to be in the way, unless of course it dosen't get driven far.

I have been thinking about picking up a second Viair 400C just because of the weight. I haven't filled the tank via the compressor yet.... still running the front lines and wiring the switchbox. I have bagged several trucks with only one compressor, but just in case, I gave myself room to add another.

as far as where I put the tank and the compressor, I figured I wouldn't be carrying over 3 bodies back there... and they will still fit! I did think about mounting everything on the kickup, but I and a stickler about ease of maintenance. if I have to get to something on the side of the road, it's right there an accessable.

You wouldn't happen to have any pics of the install, would you? I've got a '60 also, and would love to see the specifics on how you did yours...

My primary concern is getting into/out of steep driveways without bottoming out. LOL!

I just vapor locked!! Love the Caddy! The only thing Caddys from the 60's need
is an altitude adjustment. Thanks for posting the pics, looking forward to seeing
    it this year.

    Happy Trails, Mick

  22. Bags help big time with that..

My car has bags and Shockwaves that are 2000 year technology. They go up slow and down slow. I have seen those mini truck guys lift and lower their trucks on all four corners in seconds.

Looks great. I thought they came with factory air bags. or were they just bags inside the springs

    the car looks amazing!

you'll prolly be lookin to add that second compressor sooner than later. what is the 1 you have now? looks like a 380 maybe? the play time will go pretty quick on that small tank and i'm assuming big bags & lots off line. you'll get sick of waiting to fill real quick.

    nice clean install too!

    Jason,
Your welcome anytime to stop in and check the suspension out. I also have autocad drawings of the fabs for the front cups and the rear cup assemblies. I took what Ryno suggested and what I had seen others doing, and designed accordingly. I tend to overbuild, so my cups are a bit on the meaty side. I can also get pics if you guys would like.

The compressor is a 400C. I had a single 380 on my '69 Chevy truck and it worked well, but I think I'll have to lift 1000lbs more with the Caddy, so I may be picking up another 400C if it's too slow. Oh yeah, running 3/8" line, 3/8" SMCs, AVS billet switchbox, and D2600's on all four corners.

As much as I said I was going to keep her, I also have a weak spot for early to mid 50's Suburbans...... so this one may be back on the HAMB once again. (I bought it here back in October). I never have kept anything long enough to get some enjoyment out of it, and this one looks to be no exception. I'm never satisfied, guess that's why I'm on medication ;)

again, thank for the compliments and suggestions.

Hell yeah, Doug - post as many pics as you can!

This isn't something you see documented every day. It'll come up in web searches, and will help out a LOT of us wanting to follow suit!

I'd be happy to help you out! I couldn't find any good plans or pics online, so I took the bull by the horns and designed/fabbed up my own. The plans are for Dominator/Airlift Bags, but a simple revision of mounting holes in the cups should be all it takes to mod them to run Slams, Firestones, or Contis. I used 6" schedule 40 pipe in the rear and 5" schedule 40 up front. I think I have $80 in the material, so bagging these boats are simple and cheap. and like others have said, these cars were designed for optional air ride in the first place, so the front spring pockets are large enough to run a 8" max o.d. bag with no rub. another thing, some guys have shortened the sway bar link, but I'm running stock length with no issues.

wished I would have documented the install better, but I never know how something is going to turn out.... and I would hate to take pics of me screwing something up, ya know?
