Heres another I guess "Barnfind" of my 99A merc full race motor that was built and raced by Pat Kirkwood from ft worth TX.....Motor was built in 1949 at Kirkwoods Speed Shop, Using the best of everything at that time...Pat Kirkwoods DAd....."Pappy" Kirkwood, who owned and operated the 2222 Club, a notorious and wholly illicit gambling casino in his mansion on the hill...Financed his sons racing hobby....So my motor was built with illegal gambling money....Pat kirkwood also raced it in a early Nascar race in langhorne in 1949 car number 13, After that Kirkwood sold it to a local kid named brooks in 1950 and he put it in his 1939 ford and raced it through 1950 at the caddo mills Dragstrip, He pulled it out that winter and sat it under a bench in his dads garage, which is now his garage......my motor sat there all them years until brooks sold it a few years ago to the guy I got it from....As far as I am concerned There is not a cooler flathead in the whole world...LOL......Pat Kirkwood was an interesting fellow, After his speed shop and racing endevors, he owned a night club in TX called "The celler" which is where the secret service men drank and partyed all night long the night before JFK was Shot and killed in dallas....

  9. BruceT that is Jagfxr1949's '46. It had been in that position for over 18 years at that point. He's had it for about 40 years now. It's a solid truck. He sheared a cam into 3 pieces in his 327 last year so it is back in the barn.

Nice old Terraplane. We had pulled a '36 two door sedan in similar condition out of a basement garage in the mid-80's in WNY, only to sell it off when we moved south in '95. I still wondered what happened to that old Hudson - it had awesome lines.

3 years ago I found this in a barn near Warsaw, IN and didn't pull the trigger fast enough. Went back to buy it and it was sold the week before! DOH!

Here's one I had the pleasure of liberating.

Had to dig the dirt away from the door and then dig a ditch for the door to slide open. I think the whole shed sunk down into the black dirt.

Finally, a view of the treasure inside.

After a lot of inflating, jacking, filling in under the tires, and pulling, she finally moved for the first time in 35 or so years.

    Success!

  23. Here was my find.. It was stored in a tractor trailer behind somebody's shop for years. I'm assuming that somebody had pulled it apart, never got around to working on it, and there it sat. Neatly organized, might I add..

Not much to tell right now. The '36 is sitting in a friend's garage waiting for it's turn. Plans are for a '56 265 bolted to the original drivetrain.

My '35 sat in the corner of a heated shop untouched since 1966. Here's how it looked when I brought it home Aug. 08.

Here's how it looks now...almost done.

I like to take my camera and go cruising through the Texas Hill country in my Street rod as a hobby. These are few of the cars and trucks people have let me photograph.
