    Hi,
I'm looking for resources to buy grade 8 hex head black oxide bolts. local hardware stores only carry stainless or zink plated hardware. I broke down and bought a box from McMaster -Carr but I don't need boxes of 25 bolts. Any info would be appreciated, currently I need 3/8-16 2 1/2 long but I have other lengths as well.
    Thanks

Get the zinc coated ones and soak 'em overnight in "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner. Then they'll be black. But they'll rust too.

Try a Caterpillar equipment dealer. All cat bolts are grade 8 or better and they come in black.

He beat me to it. They do have a cat logo emblem on the head though.

The Cat Grade 8 bolts will still have the six marks on them designating them as a grade 8.

Cat is a good source for all sorts of high quality fasteners and hardware. I especially like the various sizes and thicknesses of #8 washer they offer.

    Hi All,
Just wanted to say that Cat is the place to go. I tried a local Fastenal dealer nothing in stock. Went to Cat today they had all the sizes I needed in stock in and out 15minutes top. Thanks for the info.
