Attn: New England HAMBers. The Amherst, NH Swap meet will start on May 1st this year due to Easter Sunday being the last Sunday of April.
Thanks for the heads-up, didn't realize it wouldn't start the last Sunday of April as usual. Here's their website, it lists the dates for the rest of the year: http://www.cruisingamherstnhauto.com/ Tip for newcomers: get there before 7:00am or you may have to park a half mile away at the (non-automotive) flea market.
Bumping this up, Swap this Sunday! I'll have a vendor setup, anyone else showing up? Looks like it'll be a nice day!
oh boy, sweet junk, im like a pig in shit over there. just got the coupe back together in time. see ya there.
I will be going for sure. the first and last shows are usually the best. you never know what you will come home with.
I thought the vendor count was down from previous opening days, especially given the weather gods cooperated so well. Perhaps gas prices for out of state vendors?? My son did find a great pair of tailights to french into his '64 skylark hardtop though at a decent price.
Thanks BigGeorge, you are right. Cleaning out my garage in preps for moving, tools, shoebox Foxcraft skirts, dragster trailer cushion, hardware, etc. Amazing what you accumulate. So I'll be there on May 15.
I agree, the vendor count did seem down a little but there was a lot of people roaming around. It seemed like a lot more tire kickers though. I ended up selling a few things but not as much as last time. I think the economy is taking its toll. There also seemed to be a lot more "underqualified" cars in the car show...At some point I thought I wandered onto a new car dealership with all the new camaros, mustangs, and challengers. I was a little disappointed, IMO, I think it would be a lot better if they made a cutoff date for the car show.
I went to the meet with a pocket full of cash and left with.... A pocket full of cash The cars spread through the fairgrounds were nice though.
First time in 12 years i went found a nice cowl light to match some others i have. Saw some nice cars and a couple projects that looked good. Got my rusty parts fix for the day. Turn out? looked like a lot of empty spaces, but still a very good mix of parts and projects. I hope that Acton Maine is as good. I know it will be smaller but some times that makes it easier to remember where you saw stuff.(at least for an old guy like me)
i managed to find a set of rams horn manifolds i was looking for. yeah, it didnt seem as busy as an opening day or last of season usually is. did you see the guy selling a 2002 SUV, what, i agree a cut off year is in order.
