Just a reminder Stafford Springs swap is this Sunday. So make a list of all the Porn, taxidermy and chainsaw parts you need. Actually it is usually ok once you wade through all the stupid shit. Good to see old frends and the people watching can be entertaining if nothing else. For a change too, the weather is looking halfway decent.Todd
I always look forward to the headache I get from whatever the yahoos are burning in old aluminum wheels!
I am actually on the fence about going to this one. I went to the motorcycle swap at Stafford Springs last weekend, and was sort of disappointed, and am not sure if it is worth the gas for another 4 hours of driving just get some walking exercise. I was also wondering if it would be better to save my cash for the swap at Lake Compounce in a few weeks. Anyone have an opinion if i had to choose one, which has more HAMB-friendly stuff (and maybe more HAMBers to meet)?
I took my wife to Lake Compounce Swap in the Fall and she got hooked on it. Rhinebeck, N.Y. swap Saturday and the CSRA on Sunday is the way I start the Swap Meet season. Stafford can be a money maker if you buy stuff to flip, but the 2 hour drive is a turn off . NOTE!!!!!!!! If you do go to Stafford pay whatever they want to park on someones front lawn and walk over to the swap. Learned this the hard way years ago when it took a FULL HOUR to drive out the gate.
My favorite thing about Stafford is that it starts my Swap Meet season.....Stafford, Fitchburg, Spring Carlisle, Rheinbeck, Lake Compounce...Boy my kids are right, I really do spend too much time looking for rust... love it Bruce/CT
great swop meet if you need old dry rotted stock car tires, rusty push bars, lawn mowers, camero fender flares and storm windows.
and expensive beef jerky i'll be there any ways, somehow i manage to score at least one good deal each time.
This year Rhinebeck and Lake Compounce are on different weekends- Lake Compounce is May 1st and Rhinebeck the following weekend, May 7/8. Tom...
Thanks! It sounds like I'll save my gas & pennies and plan for Lake Compounce and give Rhinebeck a try the weekend after. Hope to meet some of you then.
My son and I go every year, have since '77. I'm close and always find a few things for projects or resale that I can't pass up. But as said, my wife and I go to lake compounce each fall and spring, better hot rod parts there. Cliff Ramsdell
Not known to most people, but they are open on Saturday, too. I just got back. Track is 3/4 full, pits are 1/4, which is normal by Saturday night. I was there when the gates opened to vendors around 9:30 am. My son brought my truck in around 1:30 and sold 600 worth of my old stuff in the first 1/2 hour. There was less older stuff there today compared to Saturday last spring. JMO The gates are open at night for vendors to arrive, and it will be full by 8 or 9 am.
