I just received an email update from TRJ with coverage of the Lone Star Roundup and it was mentioned that a photo shoot was done on "The Texas Playboy" roadster built by Brian Bass and for Steve Ernst, for a future issue. I was lucky enough to see this amazing car at the GNRS and all I can say is HONOR WELL DESERVED!!!

  2. They did shots of it at round up at the end of the day. Hung out with Mr Bass on saturday night and he was pretty jazzed about the whole deal. A well deserved happening for a person that is one hell of nice guy and welds pretty good too. I hope they do his coupe like it is now and then again when its painted. That car needs to be in there too.

Congrats brother Bass, this car is just the right pick for the TRJ. We are all proud to see a H.A.M.B.er being recognized as a supreme builder. I was not surprized to see your name mentioned in the websters dictionary under "tasty". ~sololobo~

    Brian deserves this!!!

I met Brian at the Round Up and told him how much I like the car. In fact, I liked it so much that it was our "Acme likes it" trophy pick.

This is a photo of Steve (car owner) with the car and trophy.

Can't think of a more deserving car or builder. I'm looking forward to seeing the coverage.

Sweet! First the Takeout T and now this? Them issues are going to seem to take longer to get here now that we know what will be in them.

Yep, it's true! I'm really excited about the Texas Playboy being selected to be in The Rodder's Journal. Steve Coonan shot it over three sessions, and it's amazing to watch him work.

He also shot Floyd's (his son is kaydub here on the HAMB) Dave Lane (Fast Lane) built Deuce Roadster....a really bitchin' late '60s style hot rod. Should make for an interesting article!

Believe it or not, a black '32 Roadster with a SBC is probably one of the hardest things to get in TRJ. I feel honored that they decided a car I built deserved to be featured in the greatest hot rod magazine in the world.

Thanks for the kudos guys...Steve Ernst and I are really stoked about the feature!
