Went up to the top of the barn and pulled together enough parts to make a 40's lakes modified look a like. 27 Chevy frame, Franklin front axle and steering, steel 23-25 Model T roadster body, Model A rear axle and a Model A diamond block engine. Question is the Franklin axle does'nt easily lend itself to hydraulic brakes, do I run just rear hydraulic brakes, or go the extra step and try and figure out how to adapt the Franklin spindles to hydraulic brakes?

Four wheel braking is a must on the street.

    Enough said.

go without them if you like to live short and dangerously..and have enough insurance to cover the other guys damage or death. and keep a lawyer on retainer, you'll need him

so , what would be the point?

If you're going to drive it without front brakes, leave anyone you love at home.

Front brakes on that little jitney would go a long way in helping the rest of us to not have to think up great things to say about you after the big crash because the car wouldn't stop.
And where there is a want to/need to there is a way.
I just wish I had that frame sitting at my place right now to use under my boattail that I am gathering parts and pieces for.

Wait were you asking about front brakes or front brains? I guess it could work if you always drove in reverse. :D

    daredevil....I guess so

The front brakes on my 68 pickup stopped stoppin, (wheel cylinders frose)and I had to quick stop for a red light, and ended up goin thru the intersection backward, with my eyes close waiting for the THUD...all were stopped watching me.....slowly drove home and did a complete brake job..

    Remember two things:

    1) Wounds heal

    2) Chicks dig scars.

by all means go with rear only brakes.

Very bad idea unless you are on a road with no traffic......which will never happen.

:rolleyes:I saw an axle like that at the Portland swap, it's definently cool and fits the style. You can put brakes on there, i recently put some on a model T axle using the T spindles...where thers a will...
