4. YES!

I grew up in Geneva and in 1978-1980, I had a blue & white '53 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop with a light blue interior, 235 six and 3-on-the-tree.

...Eddie's Grill, Go Kart racing and the "Cove" with the radio tuned to WMMS 100.7, Home of the Buzzard. :D

I went to Navy Boot Camp in July '80, after returning from the Car Craft Streetmachine Nats at Indy.

come over to my house drink a beer , take this 12 bolt posi under this thing home with you. it has a 411 gear in it. Please bring me olds pontiac, with 456 or 538 ! thanks in advance Don ! LOL

7. I will be driving up to HURON, OHIO this saturday (10th) to pick up a restored 1940's wooden race boat (only 12ft w/1955 outboard Mercury) to tow behind my '51 Ford to car and boat shows. Its about a 7 hr. drive from home and about 8-10hrs. back. Will be towing a trailer to put the boat and trailer on (don't want to risk pulling the old boat trailer at 60-70mph and will be towing with a Cad. EXT, not the '51). I Never been up in this area before and looking forward to the trip. So if any HAMBER'S see an odd looking trailer/old boat combination on the road sat. or sun, honk & wave:D!

Escape From Ohio :

There were twenty, maybe, twenty-five of us
Drivin' out to California in a bus
We were looking for a good time
And a radio station we could trust.

Suddenly we heard an angry thud
And our mighty chariot turned into a dud
We were stopped there in our tracks, man
Adjacent to some cows chewing their cud.

Lord, please send some mercy down to me.
50 miles south of Bowling Green...
This will clearly never be my scene.
Why does every city start with 'C'?
There's only one sure thing that I know:
I've got to get out of Ohio!
'Til then I'll never feel love.

They say that what you give is what you're gonna get
It's no wonder everything's gone to shit.
Because they've given us John Boehner,
You better believe they've given us Jean Schmidt!

And the floodgates of hell have opened wide
It's better to get all politics aside.
They're gonna roll out Joe the Plumber
Just to make sure our minds get properly fried.

Lord, be merciful and let me die.
50 miles south of Lodi.
Round on both ends and the middle's high.
What's so great about a buckeye?
Whose might is riptide and undertow
There's no escaping from Ohio.
I'll never get to feel love.

Hey!
The walls they are closing in,
But I'm just inside of Michigan.
The only way that I'll obtain ya,
Is if I get over to Pennsylvania.
Except for TV, V, and DEVO
Nothing seems to redeem Ohio.
It is the state that killed my love.

Hey!
Don't you want to come with me
Hey!
And make a break for Kentucky
Hey!
I still got something to put in ya
Hey!
But we'll have to go to West Virginia.
And I've heard great things about Indiana, too.

New HAMBer here from North Canton. Just picked up a 1950 2 door Styleline Deluxe and hope to be getting a 57 Bel Air here soon.

Anyone know of a semi-local place that can do a chop on my '50?

13. My late father always said the work ethic in Cleveland was due to the fact that we always knew in the back of our minds that winter was inevitable, and that the good days of summer were numbered. We have to get projects done before the snow starts flying. All we have up here to worry about is rock salt. Down south they have tropical conditions taking its toll on vehicles. I heard there are more car shows in Ohio than in California. It's kind of like having a boat. There are only so many good weekends. Cleveland Rocks! Mr. T.H.

Gotta agree, Ohio is kind of a Traditional Hot Rod Mecca. As much as I don't like it here sometimes, Its home.

Thought I'd wake up this great thread! Does anyone remember Friday nights in Elyria? It was the first cruise spot I visited in 1981, we would meet off Broad St. by the McDonalds, hang out a while then cruise to Midwest Auto at Great Northern. Here are some pics from the late '80s. Look, no lawn chairs!

Born & raised here. Haven't missed a Canfield swap meet or the A&W gathering in Boardman for close to 25 years. Work kept me traveling and Hot Rods all went on the back burner 10 years ago. ffice:eek:ffice" />

gassman, I've been in Bolivar now for 3 years. (Population 902 and that includes me and you!)

<O:p</O:pAnyway, as luck would have it, just when I’m pumped up to get back into taking on a project, I find a new job in Texas. Gonna have to sell or rent/lease my place here cause I'll be full-time in the Houston area for 2 years. And the kicker is I have to give up a 30X50 shop when I move.

<V:p</V:p<O:p</O:pAnyway, to the OP, yes indeed, Ohio's had hot rods and kustom builds ever since Mr Firestone and Mr Goodyear delivered a few tires to Mr Ford. <O:p
