  3. I saw Justin Hill's '49 Buick Custom on the back of a tow truck about 20 months ago on the way to a show. I was totally, utterly, completely transfixed and obsessed. I had no idea that a car as awesome as this existed! After seeing this car at the show, I spent every minute dreaming of building something 1% as good as this car until I ended up buying a '49 Cadillac Club Coupe from the US which is on the slow journey to Australia. It arrives here is 4 weeks,..I cant wait to start working on it and getting it back on the road http://www.hillsandcocustoms.com.au/page10.htm

    It's good to know that I'm not the only one this has happened to.

    Dick Brady's 36 3-window on the cover of R&C September '59. The ultimate for mine.

  8. I walked 'round the corner in the city to be confronted by a parked Audi A5 'supercar'. The mid- engined one, a new one. That was pretty impressive.

    Oh, and as a kid, this view of Brian Gursansky's hot 327 '36 ;

    1984, a white 61 Starliner went roaring past me. Caught up w/ it a little later...Guy that owned it was an ex- drag boat racer...Cammer underhood, steel wheels and dog dishes...Subtle and bad ass.

    Rolf's coupe.
    I saw it across and intersection one summer and almost caused an accident trying to turn left and look right at the same time.
    A year later I met Rolf in person and when I walked into his garage and beheld the coupe my heart stuttered and I suddenly felt like I had to poop. Oxygen and just breathing in general were mere afterthoughts.

    I had a similar feeling the first time I met my wife.

    This is an (alleged) original NAPCO with an (alleged) 478 V6. I didn't start opening the dude's hood in the Chevron parking lot so I take his word for it.

    Yup. When I was a kid I saw a Jaguar XK120 roadster. It looked like a futuristic space ship to me.
    Love at first sight.

    One night I was sitting at a light in San Antonio (stationed at Brooks AFB) on some 8-lane throughway into town. My car was a 57 100-6 A-H with a 301 2x4 and stock healey trans. Light turned green and I just left normally, and a 300SL appeared beside me...we began to match speed, and made it through the next set of lights (just about a ¼mi) doing around 85-90mph...then we both hit it....he left me in a swirl of Texas dust....I've never forgotten the ease with which he blew my off without anywhere near the amount of noise my car was making.
