I went out tonight with every intention of taking them off. Then I had a good look underneath. I'm running mechanical brakes and it looks like all the original brackets are still on. Plus it's now got an electronic fuel pump bolted to the frame. So those aprons cover a lot of hardware. Off or on? If the answer's off, how and how much should I clean up the frame sides? This will never be a show car, just a fun run-around buggy. Thank.

Leave 'em on. Everyone else always takes them off.

I personally would take them off. Seeing the mechanical brakes is cool, I might tuck a fuel pump up underneath where it isn't seen or make a little cover for it if need be. As for the frame, as long as it's painted I don't know if I'd do anything else, maybe some dummy rivets to fill in the holes where the running board brackets were.

I like these fendered and fenderless but I don't like them having just the aprons on, doesn't look right to me.

i'd leave 'em on... then put fenders on. 28-29 look so nice with fenders... nicest fenders henry made, IMO.

plus i'm not a fan of A frames.

pretty rad run-around buggy, btw :)

  6. No fenders no aprons.

Hide the fuel pump and be proud of your brake hardware.
