Any rules about how much yoke should be hanging out of the tail shaft? Mine is 1 and a 16th inch between tail shaft housing and yoke.

For 700r/4L60, 70% inside tail shaft approx.

  4. You're close enough to be in good shape.
My standard rule for a car application like this is to have the slip yoke being 3/4" to 1" from being bottomed out. Dirt car and 4WD applications vary from this.

driveshaft companies will tell you to bottom the yoke, then pull it out 1 inch to measure the length of shaft you need- so you're doing a-ok at 1 1/16".

What he said. Bottom it, then pull it out an inch or 1-1/4.
