Someone else already said it......but you are still asking. You need a Round bale spike from a Tractor Supply store or Farm and Home Store like Atwoods.

think you`ll have to find a piece of 1 3/4 to 2 inch solid round and have a spike machined, find a machine welding shop in your area, shouldn`t cost too much, hell, if your were close to me i could do it for about 30 bucks........

the bale spike is a good idea, I would check out a farm supply store (or an old tractor junkyard for that special pre-1964 version). If you need to explain it to them, its basically like the forks of a forklift except this is just a spear that you ram through a bale then lift.

Solid spike? Hell I bet if you really think hard you can come up some other useless unsprung weight to add to that!

My thoughts exactly, you don't need length, the chain mesh post caps have around 1/2 to 3/4" 'socket' length. plus the shape will look perfect on your diff. dick!

Go to the hydralic cylinder dealer near you and pick up a solid pin, alot of them are already machined for the id you need and get busy with a grinder and shape the thing anyway you want it.

Y'know what might solve this problem? Put a floor over it.

I'll machine you one any shape you like, delivered to your door.

Scratch your idea out on a napkin and send me an email.

This is a 3 point hay spear, they make all kinds but the "spear" end is basically the same on all of them. You should be able to find an old one pretty cheap.
