It always happens to me that when I think I have all the projects I will ever need a new one shows up and gets my brain working overtime. A local farmer has a 47 Cadilac Ambulance that was coverted to a pick-up many years ago. The farmers dad built it and drove it for years. He did a nice job on the conversion. Flathead V/8 3spd. Its been sitting in a shed for almost 10 years. My first thought was pull the engine and 3spd for a future project but the pick-up looks cool. I have not made an offer yet but he is asking $ 800.00. He guarantee's it will run and drive!!! He also has a 55 Packard V/8 coverted the same way!!Ter409
And of course we're going to need to see some pictures of it, regardless of whether you buy it or not. Curious to see it's really a "home made" job or possibly a purpose built flower car version.
The only picture I have. We plan on a trip to look closer. I only had a few minutes the first look. Ter409
ClayMart; It is not a Flower car. It is not a pick-up bed conversion but a very nice modifed flat bed with pivoting side rails. Should know more by Friday.Ter409
O.K. O.K. Guys I'm working on it!!! The farmer is busy with work and is gone when I have time to deal. I've talked to him on the phone about making an offer. Maybe this afternoon !!!!! Will keep you posted. Truckncoupe you really nailed the cars/pickups when you said wake-up and smell the cars cause they smell like rodents from the barn!!!!! Does anyone know wht works to kill the smell. Ter409
If you don't buy the Caddy, I'll take it! It would make a real cool push car for Flatcad Racing! Keep me in mind, please, if you don't want it!
Well what's the verdict...Did you buy it or not! Lord knows 38 FLATTIE already get his hands full!!!!!
Hahahaha!!! Guess what I just bought for a push truck, and to test our FlatCad Racing Parts? Thanks Ter409!!!
Right on!! I have been following this thread and was hoping you would be able to get it! Its going to the right place
O.K. Update on the Cadilac. I talked to the Farmer and he said "38 Flattie" had not sent any $ so I got ahold of "38 Flattie" and I think he has been so busy with other projects that he O.K.ed me to make my own deal. I would not have undercut him with out his approval. So after much thought and digging in to my stash I bought the Cad. It took the farmer awhile to dig it out of the barn. It is HEAVY and all my winch could handle. I stopped by the local .25 car wash and cleaned off 12 years of dust. Wore a dust mask and used my weed blower to blow out most of the mouse turds. It cleaned up real good. Now to pull the plugs and spray in some SeaFoam Creep and let it soak for a few days. I found a letter from the farmers father under the seat. Neat history. I am getting ready to hit the portland swap meet next week. Ter409
I just re-read my post and it sounds like I'm taking the Cad to Portland!! NO!! I really want to get it back on the road. I have located the original siren that was on the ambulance. Might use it for a parade vehicle for the local Lions club. I will be on the track at Portland helping my buddies selling Model A parts. Bring rain gear. Ter409
