Okay so I am a couple of weeks away from chopping the top on my 50 ford sedan.....Was thinking 4 1/2 in the front and 6 in the back.....I have seen some chops that were 4 1/2 in the front and 4 1/2 in the back as well....I am not sure ...... Lets hear your suggestions and see some pictures!!!

    Thanks!!!

I chopped my Merc by moving the top to the back, not forward like everyone else. Do not know how well it would work on your Ford. But, you might give it a look and see what you think.

just remember less is more. really look at those fords and find a few you really really like. then post them up so maybe you can find some info on the car and the owner. there are a lot of really good chops and a lot more really bad ones. for me i started building my car from the ground up. get the stance or slammed done 1st. then work your way up to the top. doing any other body mods 1st. after thats all done. then see if you still want to tackle that portion. thats what was said to me and i've always thought it was some great advise.

Thanks Jason for the advice.....I am also building from the ground up. I wanted my shoebox to be a daily driver so I modified a chevy S10 frame to fit it. So far I have 3 inch blocks and drop spindles....I replaced the the rockers, floor pans, quarters, fenders and trunk (pretty much everything 116 inches from the ground up)....working on shaved suicide doors now.....then its on to the chop....I do need to through some wheels and tires on it...I have been looking at Wheel Vintiques 20 series 15" wheels....Not sure the tire size yet....I was thinking 215/75-R15's...any advice on wheels, tires and hub caps are also greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks again...

Check out Ian Berky's posts...always great tips and ideas. Also on MFS#3 "bobbleed" chops a shoebox and shows some of the basics and some helpful tips.

You're doing the right thing by researching before cutting. These are some of the easier cars to chop, but I've seen a ton of them hacked up by people who didn't put some thought into the final product.
