Nothing major to show on the car at the moment, but we have been working on some cool stuff...pictures to follow soon. Got some neat surprises coming, I'm grinning just thinking about them.
Today we have visible progress!! I'll let the pictures do the talking. Getting cramps in my cheeks from all of the grinning.
Well, that's what cheeks're for .......... Lookin' good Tom, I'm looking forward to seein'er in person.
You Dawg! You've been holding out on us! (I should talk, I'm doing the same thing). That T body looks killer on your chassis. I wonder what it might weigh? Stay tuned folks, I just aquired the last big piece for my parts pile, and I'm smiling too!
The T-bucket is supposed to weigh 28lbs and the Turtledeck 7lbs. I might be able to wrap it lighter in thin aluminum, but I couldn't resist the pull of the Modified Roadster! Guess the new class designation will be HA/GR/MR.
Hey, I'm all about saving weight, but when you consider the labor of doing aluminum, and the "Cool Factor"......just how much is 35 pounds gonna hurt ya? Besides, it's back on the rear axle for extra traction! Awesome idea...and I can't wait to see the roll cage! That grin on your face speaks volumes about what these cars are supposed to be. Getting there is half the fun!
OK...I'll try and add comments in order. You are part of my inspiration, Rocky! You said it. As I used to answer the same question when rebuilding our airplane, (and later building a Plans built biplane)...Tuesday! This whole build is about the fun factor. I've always loved the early modified roadsters and competition coupes...If I could have scored a Bantam coupe cheap enough we might have fit into the latter category.
I was just introduced to this thread by 64 Dodge 440 and it has been a pleasure reading through it. I've had, forever, the idea of a period Speedster using the same motor and Model A front and rear axles. Maybe some day I will build my car, but for now it is fantastic to see the OP building this one.
Got to go by and see'er in person today. Looks even better up close, the pictures can't convey the actual wheelbase accurately, and it makes a difference. It's gonna be bitchin'.
Nothing much happened in the last week...been fighting a cold and this week is buried in family stuff. Done a bit of "mental engineering" but it doesn't show well in pictures. Hope for some visible progress in the next week or so. Hey, I'm old and slow.
Yeah, X2 on posting the "developments". Oh, and make sure you drink plenty of water when you are sick, any of the cold remedies make your body go through water faster. I'm probably a little oversensitive about that though, we just had a lady at work collapse due to dehydration.
Eric...roger on the keeping hydrated...part of the problem I have with colds or any allergy problems is I can't take any of the allergy/cold meds because they mess with my heart rate. Tylenol to keep the aches away and just wait it out. Feeling better today, went to Disneyland yesterday for my 65th birthday and had a ball! growing older is mandatory, but growing UP is optional! Always do the Peter Pan ride first!
Bummer about not being able to take regular cold medicine, especially due to a heart issue. I'm glad to hear you are feeling better.
Back to "normal" whatever that is...hoping to get our veggie garden planted next week and get back to making race car stuff.
Not a lot to show, but I thought I'd put up a picture of my high tech electrolysis de-rusting equipment for those of you who have never seen one in action.
That's a very rare photograph...for some reason I didn't have my shotgun that day. Got that hat when I was just starting out building horseless carriages for hauling beverages on the back roads.
