Can anyone suggest parts or kit to install disc brakes on a 35 ford that currently has drums (I'm assuming 39 hydraulic) while keeping the wire wheels.
A properly adjusted early Ford hydraulic drum set-up, or the early F-100 Bendix conversion, with good drums(not turned over spec) is a very adequate setup when driving defensively. I've never heard of a conversion to discs which allows use of early Ford 5 on 5.5" wheels, disc or wire. Be intersting to see what pops up.
There are kits available that have the 5.5" bolt pattern (ECI is one), I don't know if the wire wheels will work with it. There are no disc brake conversions that I know of for 1936 and earlier spindles. The Ford kits are based upon 1937-1941 (round back) & 1942-1948 (square back spindles).
I would not even think about changing over to discs since it already has a setup that is sufficient. Unless of course your going to street rod it. yuk
No street rod deal here. Has 37 engine will have wire wheels & open drive w/ 5 spd. Gotta have wires & gotta stop. Live in NJ w/ more morons per sq inch than anywhere else. need to be able to stop quickly is all. Constantly being cutoff.
