I had a chemistry set I bought in the late 50's that had to be picked up @ a railway depot. It had pure sodium & potassium metal as well as magnesium ribbon for igniting ferrous metals to make crude steel. Needless to say, I almost burned the place up several times but what a lot of fun it was. Today, none of the chemicals are even available. With Potassium chlorate you could make any king of firework imaginable.

Don't know when or where but check their expression.
Seem to be having a good time.
Lots of fun in simple stuff.
I wonder who took the picture.

That is such a great candid photo, you never see photos like this from that time period! You can see the love in their faces!

Yup, you are SO right, Paul! Back before the media took over most
people's minds, people knew simple pleasures at face value! Here,
Mom and Dad seem to have already taken turns at drenching
eachother, sparing Junior there who seems to enjoy the show.
Following are some of those ads Rod and I have talked about.

"Love those hideaway head lights! "

It's too bad they didn't continue that headlight design on the 46-8 cars. I always thought that the Chryslers also looked like they were destined for the hideaway lights. The 46-8 Desoto/Chryslers looked to me like the fixed lights were an afterthought due to manufacturing economies. Those were certainly stout well-built cars if not exactly thrilling to drive. We had a '48 Chrysler sedan and I remember as a small child being fascinated by the speedometer lighting that changed colors as speed increased. It was a 6 and pretty sluggish compared to the competition. My dad traded it in on a new '50 Lincoln. The Lincoln was cool looking in my opinion, but he probably should have gotten a v8 Olds.
