I don't think I took a single photo of it, but when I put mine back together I just welded in pieces of 18-gauge to fill all the gaps so that the roof rail was solid to the inner quarter. I was scared shit that it would crack or break loose later if I didn't tie it all together. Actually, you can still see it in my car if you pull the garnish molding off because I have no interior. I didn't shorten the molding along the bottom, I just moved the upper part (the sweep) forward. If I ever get a headliner installed it'll all look pretty much factory, but the garnish molding is what covers over that transition in my case so I went for strong rather than pretty.
Some stuff raised it's ugly head today, hopefully will have the housing mocked up in the car tomorrow.
Looking good, you've given alot of inspriration and ideas for a 53 i have in my shop. Can't wait to see more.
This build is coming out so nice. I keep checking the progress and i cant help but be impressed every time.
yall aint seen shit yet. this car isn't done, but it's already my favorite 54 of all-time. stellar work, brother flaco
Dude...your killing me...that last pic text made me wanna smash my phone...this is one of the best cars ive had the pleasure of watching come together...you rock holmes and keep up the great work & give Rog a hug from NY!!..lmao
bro, the car is tits! I appreciate your level of skill on this, make my shit look like dumpster food seriously though, everything is spot on~ what are the tail lights? 55 chrysler? cant wait to see them wrapped up
Thanks! And Hotdamn, the 54 you guys are building is shaping up to be a fine one! Nice work you guys. Yup the lens is Chrysler, like Duane Steck's...
Not to mention, the way that backlite sits on that beltline is sex! Hey Roger, Am I striping this one too? LOL
I just bend it through a little hole in the welding table, then smooth it out with a hammer over a dolly. Keep in mind this is just a super rough mock up, none of this is set in stone... These panels will be tacked and removed about 50 more times...
