Closed driveshaft, something missing?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by shawnsauto1, Mar 5, 2011.

  1. I'm putting the driveline together for the first time on the modified 27T. I'm running a 3 speed stick with a torque tube. I bought a new roller bearing for the driveshaft. There is a seal in the torque tube, then the bearing, then flat washer (with holes), and then the speedo gear. Is there supposed to be somthing else? It looks like maybe another spacer? The speedo gear doesn't really line up and can move quite a bit. I'd appreciate any help, because I couldn't find anything on a search.

There is a snap ring next that will not allow the gear to move forward.

  3. I should also have mentioned that the drive line is roughly 39

the snap ring keeps it from moving too far forward, but mine could also move too far back ( even with that washer in front of the roller bearing) so i made another washer to position it in the correct place to align with the speedo gear in the turtle.
