Like ours down under, we only pay $50 but accept all the risk of damage etc yet the retailers make huge profits that aren't passed on to entrants, accommodation, food etc. If your retailers are like ours, it costs them nothing to enter and they have no risk.

It does take some money to put on an event, but the charge to car entrants far exceeds the cost in most cases. To the promotors that are just in it for profit, we as car owners, should boycott their events. Shows that are promoted to benefit good causes, and charities are where I put my money.
Or any shows that have activities that are cool, and interesting, not just lawn chair events.
    .
Otherwise, I just take my car to FREE events...........

Hopefully, something else that Reno may become known for other than (yech) H.A.N.
    .
And here is hoping that the current ruling class of our lil' kingdom,....... will allow the Rebel Reunion to prosper and grow into a destination car show.

Big registration fees!!! I agree with you guys...NO WAY..it is time car owners quit paying big $$ to show our cars. Without the cars..there is nothing to see.

Come on guys...it is time to start a boycott on high dollar car shows.

    I will not pay $150.00

Imagine a ballgame where the players paid the team owner to play and the spectators got in for free - or a concert where the artists pay the promoter for the honor of playing and the audience gets in for free. What's the difference? I see none....

Yo Ryan, you censored me a couple of years ago when I suggested all the same stuff these guys are saying. Back then, I was complaining about a $40 entrance fee here in S. Texas at the Boerne Harley-Davidson Dealer's show. Is this thread about to go away?

Hey all you guys n' gals, just come to our show the "Classic Rods for Healing Hearts" car show to benefit the American Heart Association on June 25th in Sparks/Reno NV. We have tried very hard to keep it FREE REGISTRATION!!! That would be no entry fee for car owners, no fee for spectators, and FREE music by live bands at the show! Does this sound like your kinda car show? This thing has just gotten huge, what with John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino backing us, and the hottest nightclub in Sparks, "The Alley" holding a pre-party show on Fri. night and an after party show on Sat. night. with the Cowbelleros and the Infamous Swanks playing (some of the best punk/rock-a-billy bands around here).
This is going to be a real car culture event.

Yeah we are posting our flyers and posters all over the area (will also be up on the Nugget's digital freeway sign) so be on the lookout for them.

Be there Saturday June 25th from 4:00 to 9:00 pm.

Back to the subject of H.A.N. Long Beach. There is going to be a swap meet at the Queen Mary parking lot, what's going to be sold? I can't find admission prices to the show or swap.

The only show I pay to put my car in is the GNRS, otherwise I'll be a spectator.

I read a story once where there were gatherings and car shows for a notable amount of time, but thefts of cars from outside the grounds alarmed all that attended.
Just 2 years later, the mammoth show of all shows pitched a big entry price, and everybody paid and parked inside.
    Can't remember how it ended...

Yeah, I don't do GoodGuys. But the website said swap meet, and it got me thinking maybe I should go to the first HAN... I'll probably be disappointed.

Well what the Reno H.A.N. swap meet has digressed to is an abundance of Taiwanese chrome pieces and Chinese knock-offs, nothing rusty here, unless the cheap chrome gets scratched...:D

Can't quite see it in this picture, but he wears an awesome gold chain necklace.

Hot August Nights Executive Director/CEO Bruce Walter, makes, $268,830.00 a year (2008) salary from this non-profit organization, and he's only the second in command.

I wonder what Hot August Nights president Chris Kilian is making each year.

"The Hot August Nights Foundation is a Nevada non-profit, public benefit corporation.
It is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code."

I have NEVER seen, or heard of the dollar amount they donate each year to this foundation.
If it was a significant amount, I would think that they would be very proud to boast of the
    dollars donated.

And get this, H.A.N. would be nothing, if not for the hard working volunteers that are the heart and soul of this event. And for this privilege, they PAY $ 40.00 a year to volunteer!

    No shit! Check it out..http://www.hotaugustnights.net/volunteerap.pdf

The Bottom Line on the volunteer application....

*Payment made to Hot August Nights, Inc. are NOT tax deductible as a charitable contribution under I.R.C. 501.3

    Holy Shit!...

WTF!...Hot August Nights has just completed booking arrangements with our headline entertainment which includes some of the greatest musical icons of the 50s and 60s including; Jay and the Americans, Herman’s Hermits, Village People, and Blood Sweat and Tears.

Stay tuned for more information on the dates and times for our great line up of entertainment.

H.A.N. is promoting these groups as "50's and 60's" icons?
This should give you a clue as to how out of touch these jerks are.
