I recently acquired a 1928 axle and 1930 hubs with steering arms in good condition. Can anyone direct me to some information on which set of king pins i should use and a kit to covert to disc brakes?
Interesting...300 posts here and you are asking a question about building a street rod. To answer your question it depends on what year spindles you are going to use. You buy the king pin kit based on the spindles being used. The disc brake question belongs on another forum.
Are those AA spindals? do they even make a disk kit for those? It would use the AA kinpins, but if there hollow i dont think they would be good with disks.
what would i need for a good drum brake set up? any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. would like to be safe but keep the cost down and not have to order an entire brake set up and front end set from somewhere
one of the locals to me that he had used these type spindles on a ride and used a 1970-1973 B-body chevy set up with the rotots and calipers and had a bracket made that held the calipers. does anyone have any information about something like this?
39 lincoln and 53-56 Ford pickup work This question has been posted hundreds of times on this forum ever hear of the 'search' function? I used 1971-76 Chevy brakes on my A spindle
ever heard of "smarta$$".... thanks for the information...yes, I have searched but I'm not getting the information that I need (or at least think I need). I was told they are AA spindles, is there a major difference in those and A spindles? I'm new at the majority of this, so any positive feedback would be helpful.
Isn't the AA king pins larger than the car and pickup king pins? I have heard that you can use an AA axle and the twin I beam disk brake setup "spindles, kingpins, rotors and calipers" from late 70's half ton fords will work.
Find yourself a set of '40 to '48 spidles and brakes, order a king pin se for the same year and bolt it on. The F100 brakes will easily adapt too. Bearing sets for that are available from Speedway. Ron
it almost sounds like I've just got some stuff that I can't use and I'm just going to have to buy the whole brake kit.
