Another BCRA driver to race in Australia, was Hank Butcher in 1969. He arrived with a midget with a cage bolted on, with a wing on top.....1st one anybody a had ever seen. Didn't that get some attention.
Local officials told him to remove the structure before he could race....He told the officials......
"in that case..... if anything happens to me, you phone his wife back in America"..
    They didn't relent!
He took it off and went out and won the 1969 New South Wales Midget Title.
I remember him as a class act on and off the track.

Here's a pic of the model I'm currently working on. It's the Elmer Faulk 24 that Joe Fiore restored last year. It should be done in the next couple of weeks.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that the team car to Joe Barzda's # 33 midget? Wasn't it orange in color?

    WOW!!! Really nice Justin.

A couple of question if I may ....

    1. - What do you & other folks who build such beautiful models use to paint them? .... What kind of paint and what method (In my mind I'm picturing an air brush).

    2. - How do you replicate the lettering for each car? They're often so individual.

    THANKS!!

I'm hoping to find any information and photos of my dad's car that he ran in the 50's in ARDC. My dad is Bill Zerillo and he owned the #4 Offy Midget driven by many of the local greats. (Duncan, Schaefer, Romit, Evans, Mann, Bonadies, and a few other I don't know).

His first midget was the boxy style red and white #17. The next was a red and white #4 and the final was a white with blue trim #4 that had "Zerillo Offy" on the hood.

Thanks to Ken Shou, Doug Post and Marty Himes I've been able to locate several photos but hope there are many more out there.

If you have any photos or history about my dad's car I would love to hear from you. I will post the photos and few videos I do have.

    John Zerillo

Ken, When I was making slot cars out of the 1/18 scale Monogram Midgets, I let my son paint them with regular car paint, since that's his job, anyway. As for lettering, etc etc, there are some that are pretty adapt at doing that kind of stuff, or have some kind of programs that allow them to accomplish such "perfect" lettering jobs. I, sad to say, don't.

This is a great action photo I was sent by Marty Himes.

I'm not sure where or when it was taken?[IMG]

    John,

I just want to say Welcome and thanks for sharing the photos.

I`m going to make a Guess of Danbury Ct,but the older guys will probably know for sure.
No roll bars in the photo so probably mid fifties 57 or so?

Hi gang spent some time with Billy Courtwright at the Rehab facility. He is doing well and we watched the 500 with a few friends that showed up.They are working him hard so he can recover quickly.Should be home by Saturday 2-26-11. He is very upbeat and his normal self. Keep you updated later in the week.

Moe #69. .........I love watching the build of your roadster......wish I could get moving as well as you have on some of my projects. Always great to hear another Danny and/or George Kladis story. I had never heard this one about Danny and George coming from opposite directions "blind". Great picture of the Lockard midget with the Ford Falcon 6cyl. I bought the cyl. head and injection off that motor at the Danny Kladis estate sale several yrs. ago. Got some other pretty cool stuff also.
