Thanks, you guys keep me going! Tim, that Little ol Lady is for hire if you need some help? Doc, Bill was at the house yesterday. I really think he was looking for MoMo! It's Hemi Time! I can't tell you how exciting this was!! The Goodman crew showed up. Tim, Garret and Gearhead Shelby. We spent a good amount of time checking clearances and then the assembly line began. Shelby has been working in a machine shop since he was 16. He lives, eats and breaths cars! He did all the machine work and really wanted to be there when we put it together. He knows his stuff! We pretty much stood back and watched him work. 44 years later and he's got pistons again! If I look happy it's because I am! One step closer to LSRU! Ran into a snag when we went to put the new springs in the heads. The diameter of the pockets were too small (I kinda thought Isky's tech department would have mentioned that, oh and they sent me keepers for a SBC?). Shelby will fix that today!
I've been there with the Mopar valve locks and Isky thing. Ordered a "cam kit" with all the usual suspects including pushrods. When I told 'em the pushrods and locks were wrong They acted like I was from Mars when I told 'em I needed multi groove locks not GMs. I was told to just send 'em back if I didn't like it and get a refund. Got Mopars at O'Reillys for like $7 or so. It was a relatively stock build. You're moving right along. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! I agree about Hotheads - they are super to deal with and great customer service. Isky - not so much! I called the next day to make sure I had recieved the correct springs since they didn't fit the pockets. I thought they would have mentioned that part when I called and made the order. I reached a guy named Tim. I explained that I have a guy at the machine shop waiting to cut the pockets and wanted to make sure they had sent me the right ones since they sent the wrong keepers. He cut me off and told me I needed to call back in an hour and speak to tech dept. I called back in an hour and got the same guy. His first response was "Didn't you just call here"? I told him, yes an hour ago. Could you check my order. He wanted my invoice number (which was at home), couldn't you use my name? He then transferred me to an answering machine. I don't know who Tim is at Isky, but he cost them my business. Started modifying a pillow block for the steering box. I wasn't happy with my first attempt. Tacked it where it needed to be. I will take it to Louie and let him weld the cast. With the cap on it, it almost looks factory! Then Richard D showed up with beer in hand. We got the front end pulled. Richard set his beer down to pose... Note he has work clothes on and had to have a mat! Didn't get done near what I had planned so I got up early the next day and starting prepping, primer and painting. Radiused all the springs prior to painting.
a while back you were talking about something for the original finish for 'tuffy' i just rubbed down the 50 year old paint on my 33 chevy with a product i got at home depot. 'corrosion stop' by BLASTER. its silicone, acetone, and some kind of penetrants. it stabilizes exposed rust, and really made what was left of the old paint pop! good luck with the finish! harp
