Looking at the Nagy and Brenn cars reminds me of a race at Hatfield in the mid to late 60's, when I was a kid and went there with the family to see the ARDC midgets race on the high bank 1/3 dirt track. That particular year it seemed like Red Riegel was unbeatable at Hatfield. In the race that I remember, Len Duncan was winning the feature in the Brenn car by a large margin. Duncan went to pass a lapped car on the front straight and the lapped car suddenly veered right causing Duncan to go down the dragstrip to the right of the straightaway, and right out into the parking lot! A few minutes later Duncan appeared going up the dragstrip the wrong way. Needless to say- Red Riegel, who was second at the time of Duncan's detour wound up winning the race!

Great picture Daveww1…good story Bob I have a good one
Lakeport speedway was dirt with high banks and trees all
around not sure when though Sherman Cleveland was qualifying
he went into the 1st corner and flew into the trees, you could still
hear his motor roaring, next thing you know he came flying out
at the end of the backstretch on 2 wheels between the trees
the crowd went wild after the race other driver were saying stay
out of this guys way ! Talk about a crazy brave man.

I was lucky enough to see Sherman Cleveland when he came to Australia to race midgets in 1966, accompanying Bob Tattersall. He was a sensation and would have been a regular visitor to our summer season's races down here.
You have all probably seen this previously, but it's always worth another look....Sherman Cleveland in what we consider as the best midget match race ever!

Cleveland at the Sydney Showground ......that's the look of a professional racecar driver who would drive through trees to qualify!!!!

noticed Sherman almost ran over the pit out guy
they used to call his car "Sherman's Tank"
    Who owned that car ?
Sorry that question belongs on the midget thread

All nice pics,daveww1. Could you tell me when you took this shot? I need to get contact info for Chuck Prichet, the current owner. This was my dad's first sprinter, and I have some photos and such to give Chuck, but I lost his info. I know hes from Fla. Heres the car at Weedsport, NY with URC. My first sprint ride in 'Old Betsy', 1976.

SORRY ABOUT THE WING EVERYONE, just showing the evolution of a great Trevis sprint car that started its life in '68 and still was getting the job done a decade later, and still alive and well!
