Hey guys, I have a McGurk 6x2 intake for SBC and I have 6 Holley 94's that are 15/16. But for some reason the carbs do not fit on the intake? Would any one be able to help me with this dilemma?

    Thank you.

Holleys are a little beefier in that dimension. Strombergs would clear it right up. You may be able to trim them up but I'm not sure about that..

I think they may be a little too close for trimming..

Ya I also think they are too close for trimming. Could this intake be only for strombergs?

  5. Do you know any one with a pair of Strombergs you can try?
I saw a Holley on an auction site that had the rear screw cut off,
I bet they were trying to fit it on a similar situation. BYW, nice grab on that very rare
intake. If you want to run the Holleys you will need to run a spacer under the middle carbs, just enough to clear the screw bosses, maybe 3/4 to 1".

Hey thank you! I was pretty excited to get the McGurk intanke! And no unfortunately I do not know any one in my are that has strombergs for me to try. I could try running the spacer like you said, sounds like it could work.

I just lifted up the center carb and it wont clear the screws unless the whole carb is out, so I dont think the spacer will work. I am thinkin that you can only run strombergs on this McGurk.

The front airhorn screw on Holleys is a problem on some intakes. Problem is when it is ground away, it makes sealing a problem.

Ya that's exactly what I was thinking, I think I rather stay away from grinding down the screws. Looks like I might have to look for another intake or look for 97's, the problem im having with 97's is that there too expensive.

I doubt it and if they did they ground off the screw....

That intake is made for 97's the carb base should be 4.5" on center. Later manifolds are 4.75'' on center to accept 94's.

Yep just went and checked and just like you said 4.5" centers, bummer. So looks like I need either a different 6x2 manifold or 97's.

    Thanks

...I've seen this done...what you want to do is move the two front carbs forward and the two rear carbs back, and leave the middle two where they are, right?
What you do is make your own carb spacers....six of them and raise everything.
You make two for the front carbs that are off set forward and do the same for the rear two but offset them back. The middle two can use regular carb spacers so that the carbs are all the same height above the engine.
Old Holley 94 gaskets are good for templates and exhaust tubing is good for the two slanted down runners between the top plate and bottom plate. A little 1/4 " steel, some welding and you've solved a big headache.... (hope this is clear)

Hey this is a great idea!! I was thinkin pretty much the only way i could make it work would be some kind of spacers like you are talking about. Thanks for the idea!!
