In the process of converting a 55 caddy hardtop into a removable hardtop for a customer. Does anyone have any removable hardtop pics showing the front windshield area where the roof attaches. Had a line on a convertible top and windshield frame etc but it feel through. I think I am going to have to fab something ...

    thanks in advance

I'm gonna use these to hold the removable top on my T coupe... I've got some extras if you need a few?

Chad, I used some of those for hidden tailgate latches on a pickup a while back - they're cast white metal ( pot metal) so make sure you mount them so there's not too much tension on them - I had one break in two.

Flop, check out the header latches on a Triumph / MG type sportscar, or an early Vette - they've got an adjustable tension.

Gator these are cast brass then chromed... no pot metal! :D

  6. Older VW Bug Cabrio roof latches are chromed brass. Hefty things too.

  7. Had a friend use a male and female air quick connect for his top
he put the male part on windshiels side and female on the top itself

Repro 356 Porsche Speedster, Conv. D, and Roadster latches work well too.

I used Chrysler Sebring top latches for the removable hardtop on my '59 T'Bird. Works great and wrecking yards are full of similar stuff. To latch the top to the body, Chrysler hood catches with the cable release run forward under the tonneau cover.
