DAGO was orignally used by Navy Radio men to shorten on air time when pulling into the harbor. Later the flyers used it. With the large amount of military using this term. It just stuck after that.. This did not bother the Itilan mil as they knew the contex............................... Brake pedal is chicken stick. Truck clutch.. with them you had a very large left leg............Truck Mufflers. these came on 6 cyl chevorlet dump trucks and had a large outlet. They were stock and Legal and had a nice sound........................Burnt out glass packs. some times speeded up by putting 1/2 qt auto trans fluid to speed up detoration. very loud some times refered to as Cop callers................................... A studebaker called a stipidbakers................ Cut Down.. a car with most of the sheet metal removed. some times called a rail because you only had the frame rails.. Trip Boy.. a driver of a auto that carried un taxed moonshine. Train Racing.. this is where you race a train across the rr track intersection................... Watching Submarine Races with a girl.. Rerefined oil. this is used oil that was cleaned up a small ammount and sold in cut rate filling stations. Dope a name for rear end fluid or 90 weight oil........ 50 cents wouth of gas........ White Gas used in early lawn mowers. flipping the shackels.. this was done mostly on fords.. it raised the rear bumper about 5 inches...all fords were called Henrey's.. Boy that was fun I have said most of these things in decades.. Bobby..

let me smoke one of your fags, while I tell you about it.Try saying that now see what happens... anyway...

Because back in the day there were only a few different Cam grinds the 3/4 bumpsticks are for 3/4 mile oval track mills at least thats what an old timer told this old timer 40+ years ago. Guys used these Cams in there flat motors. Quite a few of those guys were called rum runners. They were also punched and shaved.

"Bleach Burnouts" haven't seen one of those in years. We used to refer to a manual trans as a "Bolt Action" and I still do.

    Grocery getter ( daily driver)

    Slugs (pistons)

    Feet or shoes (tires)

    Chrome don't get you home.

Keep the shiny side up & the rubber side down.

Double hump heads ( I guess they are still desirable, but with World, Brodix, etc. I guess there are alternative.)

Not sure if it qualifies, but every one who had a 350 with a 4 bolt main swore it came out of a corvette:confused:

  23. American cars were generally 'Yank tanks'- 'garish', 'gaudy', . 'Two Bob lairs' did 'squealies'.
Headers??.. 'Extractors' please. And down under, a glasspack was always a 'Hot Dog'.
    My first conscious hot-rod terms were of my own invention. My very first hot rod term, apart from blurting engine sounds, was 'wheels- in' (reversed wheels);
    "Wow..look; wheels-in"!

The guy I bought my full race flathead that was built in 1949...Gave me the specs on it.....He was an old racer and was 82 years old this is the lingo he used
    The flywheel was "chopped"
    The block was bored,
    ported and relieved.
    The crank was stroked.
    3/4 isky
I have also heard old timers when referring to an old engines use the term "3 ducks" and "Full house" also "Hot heep"
