this my 27 ford it is sitting on 31/48 rails, with 39 wide five brakes on a 35 axle in front 40 in the rear. just got all the mock up done starting on finish work now just finished filling and boxing the frame. just wanted to see what everyone thought. just added some new pics at bottom
lookin' good so far - I would recommend that you get that radiator cover lowered so that it is not higher than the top of the cowl...section it, chop it, whatever - when they stick up so high, the ruin the appearance of the car. I don't know what 31/48 rails are, as they are not inclusive through those years. Nonetheless, your project appears to be coming along just fine. dj
to elaborate on the rails the front and rear frame sections are 31 A, and the mid section is a 48 truck which is taller and it has a natural kick up that flows into the A rails in front.
I like it and the fact thet you have used what you have to make a body and chassis from not much. Whats the motor? I agree with the other guys about the rad shell. I am just starting my '27 on '32 rails... I will be making most if not all of the body for that though. Keep posting your progress I would like to see what it turns out like. David
That's a great ride! Can't wait to see it road ready! I just read a thread on here about brush painted cars. Very cool and they look the part! You thought about brush painting that thing? Always wanted to brush one - probably on the next car we build....
here are some new pieces i have been working on first i took a 390 t bird valve cover and grafted it in my 200 valve cover, also my dash that i re-arched the lower portion and integrated this cool speedo i found, also my 39 wheel and front spindles and bacing plates
working on finding shorter rad with correct hose placement not having much luck. painted rear axle pieces today
well got the rear painted and built and installed. working on the body now hope to have in primer in 2 weeks. also working on rebuilding motor and trans.
You know, that '37-'41 axle is the worst choice ordinarily, because of its close spacing between wishbone bolt & king pin...but I said 'ordinarily'. You have set this up with spring behind, long 'bones, and clean-clean-clean! I love to see parts like this massaged into interesting versions of the home-built art of 'Roadstering'. This is a treat.
got the brakes done shes a roller tranny done, workin on motor need an oil pan if anybody out there has one..
You don't need to lower the '30 Model A grille shell...you need to sell it and get a '28-'29 Model A grille shell...they're shorter, fit perfectly, and will look great...trust me.
