I am going to Las Vegas this weekend with my wife and in-laws. I am looking for low buck car places and/or car toy (model cars, slot cars, etc..) places to see.

I know about the Imperial collection but I am looking for something more HAMB style.

    Any cool vendors or shop?

    Any cruise nights or shows?

Any cool collectable or toy shops?

    Thanks.

  2. Ferrari FXX at the Wynn Penske Ferrari dealership. Certainly "off topic" but extremely rare (can be seen through the window ... no need to do the tour, the dealership is actually at the Wynn Hotel and Casino). I didn't see much of anything as far as old cars go (was in Vegas for a week, although there was a T-bucket on display at one casino that you could win).

Shelby has a nice factory in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway park just north of the city Cobras, Mustangs, Shelbys and a few GT 40's. He has a nice car display, gift shop, and you might even get a back seens tour if their time allows. Price=free, unless you buy something.

Outside of Vegas, think it was Laughlin, there was a small car museum years ago, nothing over the top, but had some old cars in it, stock ones, no nostalgia era hot rods though. Not sure where they were all hiding.

x2 on the Shelby factory, worth the trip. Interesting place only a short ride from the strip. Had the free inside tour which was nice to see.

If you're going to the Imperial Palace auto collection, here's where you can print out free passes. http://autocollections.com/index.cfm?action=free

Also, if you've been there in the past you may still want to go again. Not sure if they're still doing this, but a few years ago they would rotate in/out cars every few months.

Avoid the hookers on Bolder Hwy. What you pick up there won't stay in Vegas

Yes, The Riverside. They have one downstairs out front and one upstairs I believe on the third floor. Both free.

Tha Pallanision II (sp?) is there now. They have a couple rods displayed also but nothing very HAMB freindly but hey, if you like cars!

I would stop at the Imperial Palace auto collection. Check online they have a free admission coupon.

Also the So Cal speed shop is here they are about 5 minutes outside of the strip.

Other then that there is nothing.

the vegas scene is weird. You will see old cars sitting, noone wants to sell. No fixed up cars anywhere but hundreds turn up when there is a show

  14. Have you tried doing a search for "Las Vegas"? Seems like every few months someone is going there. There are a few diffent cool things to see out by the track.

    Guys,
Thanks for the tip on the free coupon for the Imperial collection. I printed enough for the wife and I plus the in-laws.

I'll try to hit the Shelby factory also.

Bummer the cruise nights are next weekend.

    Thanks again

Kind of off topic...but if you have time you should take a ride out to the Hoover Dam and check out the new bridge while you're there...You won't be disapointed!

The Sahara, across from Circus Circus and the Stratosphere [space needle] has, IMHO, about the best buffet in town. Sign up in the casino, and they'll give you a free dinner at the buffet too!!!
Yea, yea... I know. Not car related... But we all gotta eat sometime  :D

I went to Vegas once, rented a car and drove to El Mirage. It was winter and it was wet, but I've been there now. Very cool place. And worth the trip for a gearhead, even on non racing days.

    Thanks again guys!
I am heading out in a couple minutes.

I'll take my wife on that dam tour if she wants to or not!!!

I'll also check out the Sahara buffet.

I'd like to see El Mirage but I don't think my wife would go for it.

Bunny Ranch? Is that where you buy your tow knob or is it where you get it serviced?
