I passed this truck on the way to my shop this morning. I followed him off the freeway to Simms Metals in Richmond Ca. Its on its way to the shredder for sure. I stopped and talked to the driver. Offered him $20 for the hubcaps, they were cherry! he said he would get in trouble if I took them off. He took my # and said he would call me if he could get them off. To bad it didnt at least go to a salvage yard where some of the parts would get saved. One less old Ford ~@#$~@#$:(

It's probably 400 on the trailer and the sad part is that he won't find anybody else to pay him much more. The project car market vs. the scrap market is out of whack right now. I have a couple of true classic Ford cars that are worth about as much in scrap as in the classifieds. Shame.

Those cables were probably straight before they cinched down on the cables. On the other hand, it looks like a lot of bondo in the LH rear quarter.

There was alot of rust, but it is going directly to the shredder, so nothing off of it will be saved. Oh Well!:(

That can't be legal. No way are those cars secured with the twine.

Ouch! Hate to see stuff like this happening, but scrap prices being as high as they are will put a lot of the old iron in to the grinder. Even scrapping that Buick is a shame. It looks like a pretty rust free rig, would have made a decent daily driver around here.

    Scrap is over 14 dollars a hundred here ( today ) :)
Lot of stuff going to the crusher ... most of it is just JUNK ...
But some vehicles we consider cool are bound to be mashed also. :(

My friends salvage yard crushed this week ... maybe 400/500 cars ... but nothing special ... he likes old cars too.

I took a load of scrap to the yard a couple of months ago. Some @sshole took a righteous running and driving 2-door Falcon to crush. It just needed some interior work. $125 to scrap it. The yard pulled it off the line and one of their workers bought it. Drives it to work everyday. They had an early 30s IH truck sitting in there too, but I was too broke to ask about it. Good thing about the local yard is they sell stuff out of the pile, if you want it, just ask.

The local classic salvage (Hauf Auto Salvage) crushed out. Nothing newer that 1980. Had some nice stuff going back to the 00s. He was selling anything for $400. He ended up crushing half of it and the crusher wrote him a hot check for 100k! he waited a few months and got another crusher. Only a handful of cars left. truly a shame. All because the city was threatening to annex him and force him out. Place had been open since 1920, three generations. His son is the local Sheriff.

Reality bites. Scrap price beats people saying coulda, woulda, shoulda. Been there, lost my ass on a yard full of antique cars. I was forced to crush better cars than that for less money. If you want em buy em. Its only going to get worse. 99% of the population views our hobby as old junk and an eyesore. Buy em while you can. More legislation is being written daily, to clean the landscape (the excuse), wipe out parts, and force people to buy new cars(the real reason).

Makes me wish I could just hang out at the salvage yard with a fist-full of dollars.
