  1. I voted for the '32. It just looks right.

But you've got both. Run the A shell if you like it. You have great style and taste, so go with your gut. The vote will be a tie anyway.

But I would never EVER part with that '32 shell. Just sayin'.

  2. On my budget I can't afford to keep it all :D

I prefer '28-'29's with the stock grille shell.Even better with a full hood.
    '32 shell suits '30-'31 better.

Exactly, there will be more 32 grill shells but think about what selling it could purchase to finish that roadster, that is how I think anyway.

totally agree.that rides cool.i`d leave the banger in it.

  10. OK guys, I have decided to go with the deuce. Don't worry though, I knew a guy here in town that had a decent original in primer. So I'm gonna sell the original paint one I have and I can cut and paint to suite this one. It even has some OK body work done on the very bottom of the sides....the exact part I gotta whack off :D Either way, thanks everyone for the opionons and the poll....it was close the whole way!!!!

Chris, I'm partial towards the '32, but on your car ... I guess I'd go with the A grill. If you do use the '32, Chop it about 2-1/2"

  13. All right guys, heres the final verdict. Deuce guys can scream in pain :D

'32 shell looks too wide on/against a '28/9 cowl. They fit pretty good for a '30/1, but, not on a '28/9. Only my opinion, though.

I had to narrow my rad when I changed from a 28/29 to a 32 Grill the 28/29 must be wider.

  22. Correct, a 28/29 is wider then a 32.

  24. I voted for the '32 shell even though I'm a big fan or 'A' grill shells. I think the '32 grill shell is a bit 'overdone' but it just looks great on your roadster!

Was hoping to run the 31 shell on my 31 coupe, but as a buddy said "it looks like a pig ran into a wall" . So will run the 32 commercial shell most of the time. But will still paint both shells so I can change them if I want.

Looks great Chris! I was thinking about your dilemma here a bit... Aside from looking better in most cases, I think part of the reason you see so many '32 grilles on AV8's is that back then when swapping engines to the V8, it was an easy way to get a radiator that worked. I'm sure some folks added inlets/outlets to the A radiator, but if you could get a whole '32 assembly for $10 and be ready to run, why not, eh? Just a thought...

Also, when I shortened mine, I removed side material from the area above the bottom few inches, then moved the lowers up and rewelded them. That way I can still run the (shortened) stainless shell trim piece and lacing.

  29. Great idea on the stainless, thanks a lot!
