I have a chrysler rear end, later model. The numbers on the rear are: 3723791 30103 1 0267 (That zero could be a 6 or an 8 also) Thanks in advance!
could the last three digits of the first number be 741? if so its an 83/4 out form behind a small block car does the center section front or rear load? what measurement from either flange to flange or center of perch to center of perch?
I would agree. It is probably the small pinion version of the 8 3/4". There were also 742 and 489 cases available. 742 and 489 cases are similar in strength while the 741 case is considered the weaker of the three, although I've never had a problem with my 741 case 8 3/4" behind my 440.
"742" is short for 2070742 which is way way earlier than the 3723791 number on his rear housing. in case you don't know, mopar part numbers are sequential, so you can figure out roughly what year each part was first used, by looking at the first two digits of the part number. 37xxxxx is from the mid-late 70s
yeah i had a 741 behind my 440 also beat it unmercifully never gave up 742's cameout around 67 489's cameout around 69/70
