i have a 354 hemi . i want a distribitor that looks right on the car which is a 30 chrysler i would like a hei but not to look hei.i saw a mag distribitor.but dont know if it would fit 50s or 60s era. please give me some options on what distribitors i could use and still look period
Use the Stock dual point distributor with a Pertronix unit in it. When the cap is on, you can't tell it's not Stock...
I would just go with something like this in the stock distributor body if I wanted electronic ignition with a stock look... http://www.pertronix.com/prod/ig/ignitor/default.aspx
convert stock dizzy to electronic by sending it to GMC Bubba.. He did my Desoto...looks stock, full electronic...I hate Petronix....
Don't be a hater And by the way Jim (GMC Bubba) uses our products in some of his conversions! Don from PerTronix
You can also ''hide" a MSD box and just use a stock distributor with points to trigger. The points will last forever since they won't be carrying current. (Though this will cost more than a Pertronix solution)
did they run the mag distributor back in the day?im asking because i saw a mag look a like on ebay and it was hei.
Most of those are not true "HEI" but are electronic conversions with a Hall Effect sensor for pickup. Pretty much only racers, or hardcore street racers, ran magneto's
No problem, lets make your stock distributor a HEI , remote mounted module and low resistance coil . Great system looks good with the orginal distributor painted blasck.. i use a dodge reluctor and pickup coil hooked to the hei module on this conversion........pm for details......
