A customer of mine told me about it a few years ago. I thought it was pretty much just for wanna be's and people that built "virtual" cars... ya know like most message boards. I resisted as long as possible, but curiousity got the better of me. I first visited about 3 years ago and was suprised to see the people here really are building cars, not just nit picking and pretending to be hot rod people while sitting in a cubical at some lame ass middle management desk in a soon to be bankrupt high tech company.

I have been a member of several message boards for all the shit im in too. Motorcycles, Airplances, Cars, Guitars, all that crap.. But this one has the most down to earth and real people of all of them.

Lots of surfing looking for info on hot rod or bike building, and you will stumble onto the H.A.M.B sooner than later. The wealth of information is addictive, and now I'm hear at least once a day.

I sort of keep myself to myself and do not post much in other subjects on the hamb but i do look and observe.

It has been a very welcoming site and even though i am not a true hotrodder in the sence of the word as can be seen by my cars I am enjoying showing my build to positve comments, many thanks the h.a.m.b

    cheers vin

  13. I found it surfing the net looking for information on my f 1 and stumbled across it. It being a site about the origins and preservation of hot rods appealed to me. I'm a young guy (53) but have been a car freak since I was old enough to know what one was. My hot rod is my 49 f1 but I also own some ot cars 78 D100 slant 6 ,3speed power nothing, 72 mg midget, 76 mgb, remnants of a 51 mgtd and my winter car a junky 4runner. I plan to be here for the long haul and will try not to be such a lurker.

Saw it in hot rod or car craft many moons ago in an article called "the bomb factory" about a group of guys building an altered out in California. Finally joined when I moved to central Texas and went to the lonestar roundup a couple times and started drag racing my Stude again. Hardly a day goes by without checking it out.

An old friend and avid car guy (like me) told me about it. Been here 3 years, just havn't had much to say. As I get older, I find you can learn more by listening than by wasting other peoples time.

Saw a fire well tag a few years ago, asked what the hell the hamb was.... Lurked till i found a car, now my main project has evolved from the vehicle i bought just to run parts around for my original project, which i sold on here. This is the one site that i always leave up on my computer.

I learned about it from draggonbreath. He has been a friend of my family for years also gave me my first job in his salvage yard when I was a kid. I must say he's a real old school guy but those old farts sure know how to hoard car parts and whores.

Accidentally found my way here . I love building stuff and doing some different things. I am amazed at all the artists with these vintage rides. A lot of really talented people on here. I've already learned a lot. Like don't put a Durango front frame on a 1957 Chev pickup uless you are prepared to do a lot more fabrication than you are capable of doing. So far it is going pretty good and will be slammed in front a little more than I planned.Still it should look and drive nice.

A friend of mine is a member and told me about it, I was telling him about the T roadster I was assembling parts for he told me I needed to check it out. I finally joined when I started to find parts in the classifieds. Amazing amount of knowledge and talent on this site, I'll just stand by and pay attention.

I was just looking around the net for ideas on building one of those "R" rods and stumbled across this site. I have always liked hot rods and muscle cars and have built several late 60's Mopars and was wanting to build something different. I never really realized the difference between a street rod and a hot rod and now I have found what I did not know I was looking for. Now I am hooked for life. I have been quietly lurking around and learning a lot about traditional hot rods and now am about to start on my build. It is going to be a 23 glass T-bucket. I got a couple of banjo rears to choose from, a 32 or 33 front axle, unsplit bones to work with, 7 8BA's, 1 59AB and a 392 hime to choose from also. So thanks to you guys I am now on the right path to what I have always wanted but really did not know that it was and the difference between the others. Thanks for all your help.

A friend and I drinking beer and debating what the best way to salvage an old car body from a swamp. He said "some type of swamp buggy with a winch." I said "a shovel and a hippopotamus." Can you believe I googled "saving old car hippopotamus" and this place pops up! What i couldn't believe was that 142,000 other people had done the same thing!

And that post made me a Newbie!

  30. I kept looking online for answers and everytime I found a good solution to one of my problems it was from this site. I lurked for a few years and then realized that I had taken so much from this site that I had to become a member and finally give back.

Now I have a new build and look for ideas and solutions. I check it out at least once a day for a bit. I usually check it out when work is slow, that gets me in trouble because it is not uncommon for me to be laughing out loud at a comment. and get the glare from my office mate.

I don't plan on leaving you can count me in for a continued membership in the Alliance.
