    The Bouvrette Speedway was located in St Jerome, abour 30 mins North of Montreal. St. Chrysostome, QC is slightly south of Quebec city, so about 3 hours sepperate the 2.

    I agree I race in a vintage modified and have a slant back open hauler, most get to the track in an enclosed trailer, and bring along enough spares to rebuild the car, back then when you had a few spare tires, maybe a rad, and a spring or 2 you were well equipped.     My favorite picture is Ernie Gahan #15, Billy Slater and Red Foote against the wall for a 123 finish. Red Foote in one of the early days with a Tri-power Y Block power 37 ford at Waterford Ct. Speedbowl.

    I remember from my younger days, when indeed many of the "late models", such as '56-'60 Fords and Chevys were "flat towed" to the track. (must have been fun, with a locked rear end, and 2-3" of stagger) What puzzled me, however, was how you got the car home if you were an unfortunate victim of a major pile up...

    If they ran a 3/4 rear they pulled the axles, or they could be running a posi track
    rearend, and ran two normal wheels on the back.<!-- / message -->

    leadfoot4, My first two years (57 and 58) I flat towed. I would put street tires on so the locked rear wasn't much of a problem. BUT....if you crashed that was a problem, I had to leave my car at Seekonk one night and drive back home (Glastonbury CT)to get a front axel then drive all the way back and make repairs. No fun.     Being a Maynard Troyer fan for many years, I especially liked the radical #17 he built for Jim Sousey, & drove for a while, I found these pictures of the #13 Cavalier that had a similar paint job & clean appearance. I recall this immaculate car running at Spencer Speedway, & Shangri-La in the early 80's. I believe it was built by Dave Nichols. Does anybody remember the driver...

    how about a willys?
    and a few of my grandpas cars
    and one with me after doin an engine swap last year.
    and one of hoop shiable's 95 that was recently dug out of his building. still wearing the dirt from nazareth in 1964.

    I would love to see some details on the 36 Chevy on page 76 of the April Circle Track Magazine. I saw the email a few pages ago but can't find any specifics on the car. I'm working on a street car with a Modified theme to it and this thread has been awesome for ideas. :D

    Oh, I think they identify it as a 32 Chevy in the caption but clearly that's not the origin.
