Ok all you road trippers and long haulers. What do you consider as must haves for a long road trip? Here's my short list. Lots of tunes & my sat radio Up to date map book Good spare tire Propper jack & 2 small stands Spare fan belt, cap & rotor, plugs, and a couple of long ignition wires Couple gallons of water Couple quarts of oil Couple pints of trans fluid Rags and waterless hand cleaner Blanket or sleeping bag Bag of snacks and cooler with water and beverages A small toolkit A chunk of 14 ga. automotive wire A variety of spare fuses Anything else you like to have please chime in.
Heres a short list (Probably forget some stuff) of things I bring on my road trips. -Spare Carb (Because I have a rare carb and may need parts) -Spare Points -Spare tire -Lots and lots of tools -Jack (It's nice to have a cheap little mini floor jack instead of the stock one) -Mechanix gloves (for if you have to touch some hot shit!) -Spare rad hoses -Usually two things of oil (my car leaks a lot and I have an oil bath) -Cell phone -Truckers atlas -GPS -Spare fuses -Spare cigarette lighter thing (For the GPS) -Cell phone charger -Spare tank of water -Spare altenator (I have a custom not a hot rod so you don't see my "Un-tradtional altenator!) -Sleeping bag/pillow (You may have to sleep in your car) -Spare plugs -Spare oil filter -Spare u-joint -Spare hardware -Camera -iPod -Snacks And a group of other car guys because driving alone is boring!
My traveling tool box is 70# and goes everywhere. Water sunflower seeds gloves Carry on type bag with my drug store. change of clothes, digi camera, phone charger, toiletrys. Feather pillow jumper cables I pretty much quit carry the parts store except when I have a part I know is failing and I have been too lazy to change. I do pack a bit more when I travel the Alcan. I've done that trip 6 times.
A clip on light or miners lamp comes in handy. I dont have credit cards so i bring a prepaid visa card along. I once got stuck in mud lake idaho on a sunday because i was out of gas and everyone was at church!
Water pump, fuel pump, 2 inline fuel filters, bearing grease, circuit tester, every tool I can get in the roadster.
most the things listed above,,,plus a small tarp to lay on,,if you gotta get under,to work on somethin
